Heart Well Homestead is deeply grateful to the Keeseville Elks Lodge for hosting our Harvest Dinner. A huge Thank You for providing the delicious food, a beautiful space, live music and incredible support. A special thanks to Chris, Grant and Diane for your many hours of planning the menu, food prep, cooking, and cleanup. The excitement of the silent auction and raffle winners was memorable, and the many participating Lodge members helped drive a very successful fundraiser. The Keeseville Elks Lodge has shown us what community support can look like, and made a significant impact that is helping propel Heart Well Homestead to the verge of opening our transitional home.

In a world full of structured schedules, never underestimate the power of free, unstructured play.

When children are given the space to direct their own games, they practice navigating the world in miniature. Undirected, free play isn't just about passing the time, it’s where real life skills are built. When kids navigate play on their own terms, they learn how to resolve disagreements, speak up for themselves, collaborate with others, and discover what brightens their day.

Heart Well Homestead aims to emphasize positive child development and growth. When our new multi-family housing opens, all of the children residing in the house will be able to play and interact with each other to build these skills. In partnership with Healthy Families Northern New York, moms will receive parenting education to encourage unstructured play to help the children thrive.

Came for the food, stayed for the cause! Here’s a look at our Harvest Dinner from this past weekend. Thank you for all of your amazing support to make this event a success! Behind every statistic is a neighbor.

It’s the single mom working tirelessly to stretch every dollar. It’s the veteran navigating their benefits to help pay off medical bills. And it’s the 1 in 6 children in our communities who wake up not knowing if there will be breakfast on the table or dinner at night.

Last year, the Regional Food Bank and its partners distributed nearly 3.9 million meals, yet this only meets just over half of the 7.2 million meal demand in Northeastern New York State . With the federal cuts to food assistance programs, local governments have turned to local partners, food banks, and other charitable organizations to help close the food insecurity gap.

But no one should have to choose between paying for medicine, rent, or groceries. Closing this gap takes all of us. To do its part, Heart Well Homestead plans to provide home cooked meals around the kitchen table with services for unhoused, food insecure mothers and their babies upon opening our residence.

Every child deserves a stable place to call home, yet out of New York State's homeless population, children make up 31%...more than double the national average.

Behind every percentage point is a child needing safety, support, and a foundation to thrive. While headlines often focus on statewide shifts, the reality across our communities tells a much harder story: vulnerable families and kids are facing an ongoing housing crisis every single day.

Heart Well Homestead aims to help provide transitional housing to help unhoused mothers and their children gain the resources and skills they need to thrive independently.

Because every child deserves a place to call home and a community standing behind them.
