We are planning a Fox Hunt later this Spring. Here is a great place to start if you would like to participate but aren't sure what you need. We plan on pairing up new hams with more experienced hams, and we are taking care of the transmitter, and over all event plans.

Here’s everything you need to know in order to have fun finding a hidden radio transmitter (aka “fox hunting). We’ll follow a simple three step process:1. F...

My father used to have a business installing satellite TV and antennas. He has tons of things like vhf/uhf antennas of various configurations, mounts, old rotors, and probably a bunch of stuff that people might not want because it is TV related. A lot of the stuff is free, but some of the stuff he would like an offer on he isn’t looking to make a buck. He just is in the process of cleaning out his garage. Here are some photos. If you see anything you think the club could use let me know! The club itself will have first dibs, but if anyone sees anything they might like, or if you are a TV equipment hobbyist there is tons more stuff.

The vcr/dvd mounts I think would be great for mounting radios.

Amateur radio operators and ARES® volunteers were active in monitoring the potential impacts of tsunami waves following an earthquake off the Russian coast early this week

The well-networked ham radio operators in Hawaii quickly sprang into action following the alerts with informal VHF nets held on amateur radio repeaters a well as The California Rescue Net on 40 meters being activated on the US mainland.

Hello All,

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of those who volunteered at yesterday's Ironman Race. It was an extremely busy day for us all, and everything ran about as smooth as it could. Both the SAG vehicles and Ambulances did a great job all day long, as well as great communication from our Aid Stations and other locations on the course. We couldn't have done it without all of you. It is great to see how coordinated CVARC can be when needed.

We very much appreciate your time and efforts, and also most importantly, nothing every goes as planned, so we can start planning for next year. Please contact Bob Cook Wi2b with your volunteer hours, and any thoughts you have about improvement. Remember we aren't in charge of most of the activities for Ironman, but we can make suggestions to them for improvement.
Also, a huge thank you to Dave Hubble and Bob Gill for helping out at the last minute with net control. We appreciate you stepping in to help out.

Also another huge thank you to Bob Cook and Mark Varin for attending meetings and organizing this event, and to Casey Bourdeau for organizing the radios for club members to use.

There are lots of people to thank that I am not aware of what they did, so if you did anything to help out, we appreciate it! Great work all.

Matt

2nd Vice President CVARC
