In 2022, I had a realization that there were many children in my hometown of Clinton County, New York who were in need of warm clothing during the harsh winter months. As the temperature dropped and the snow began to fall, I knew I had to do something to help these kids stay warm. It was then that I decided to start Snowy Smiles, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hats and jackets to
children in need in Clinton County. I wanted to make sure that no child had to face the bitter cold without proper winter clothing. I knew that a simple hat or jacket could make a world of difference in keeping a child warm and comfortable during the winter months. I began by reaching out to local businesses and community members to ask for donations of hats and jackets. The response was overwhelming, with generous donations pouring in from all corners of the community. With the support of these kind-hearted individuals, Snowy Smiles was able to provide warm winter clothing to dozens of children in need. As Snowy Smiles continued to grow, I realized that there was a greater need for our services in the community. I wanted to expand our reach and make a bigger impact on the lives of children in need. That's when I decided to partner with local schools to identify children who were in need of winter clothing. By working directly with the schools, Snowy Smiles could ensure that the children who needed help the most would receive the warm clothing they needed. 2023 We started our No Cold Feet at school fundraiser; raising socks for children who did not have dry socks at school. In addition to our work with schools, Snowy Smiles also began to assist individual families in need on an as-needed basis. Whether it was a single mother struggling to make ends meet or a family facing financial hardship, Snowy Smiles was there to provide warm winter clothing for their family. Our goal was to help as many families as possible, one child at a time. I also reached out to other organizations in the community to collaborate and share resources. By working together, we were able to make an even bigger impact on the lives of children in need. From hosting fundraising events to organizing sock drives, Snowy Smiles was able to expand its reach and provide warm winter clothing to more children in Clinton County. As I reflect on the journey of starting Snowy Smiles, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and pride. The joy on the faces of the children we have helped is a constant reminder of the importance of giving back to the community. Snowy Smiles may have started with a simple idea, but it is growing into a powerful force for good in Clinton County. Looking ahead, my hope is that Snowy Smiles will continue to grow and make an even greater impact on the lives of children in need. By partnering with schools, working with individual families, and collaborating with other organizations, Snowy Smiles can be a beacon of hope for those who need it most. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my community in this way, and I look forward to the many smiles we will bring to children in need in the years to come.
