Skaters progress at their own rate and advance to the next level after skill mastery is demonstrated. The Learn to Skate USA Program consists of the following:

Snowplow Sam 1-4— For Pre-school age children (skaters will be put in groups according to age) - 30 minutes of direct instruction and 15 minutes of free-skate. Designed to help the beginning skater develop preliminary coordination and strength to maneuver on the ice. Basic 1-3— (skaters will be put in groups according to age and ability) - 30 minutes of direct instruction and 15 minutes of free-skate. Lessons focus on the development of agility, balance, coordination, speed and self-confidence. Basics 4-6 and Pre-Freestyle— (skaters will be put in groups according to age and ability) - 15 minutes power stroking, 30 minutes of direct instruction and 15 minutes of free-skate. Skaters continue to work on fundamental skills and are introduced to edge techniques, crossovers, and turns. Adult Lessons— 15 minutes power stroking, 30 minutes of direct instruction and 15 minutes of free-skate. Lessons are tailored to the unique needs of each adult skater. This included open ice times for private lessons and individual practice. We offer a Free Skate group lesson and Advanced I & II clinics based on the skaters achievement in tests passed. Free Skate-- (must have passed Basic 8 or Pre-Freeskate ) Our Free Skate program offers a transition step from Learn to Skate USA group lessons to private coaching and training. Skaters participate in group lessons during our Learn to Skate USA lesson time. Focus is on a variety of progressive skating skills, spins and jumps, designed to give skaters a strong foundation. Skaters also begin preparation for their first US Figure Skating test, Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field. Once a skater has completed one session in this group, skaters move to Clinic I. Prior to taking the Pre-Preliminary test, Free Skate skaters are encouraged to begin instruction with a private coach. They also have access to Advanced Ice time for independent practice. Advanced I Clinics-- (must have passed Pre-Free Skate) Lessons focus on proper stretching techniques, warm up and cool down, stroking, edges and power stroking, introductory moves in the field, introductory ice dance, beginner synchronized team, spins, jumps, artistry in motion—beginning choreography and style. Advanced II Clinics-- (must have passed Preliminary Moves and Preliminary Freeskate) Lessons focus on proper stretching techniques, warm up and cool down, stroking, edges and power stroking, moves in the field, synchronized team, advanced spins, jumps, artistry in motion—choreography and style. We put on 2 ice shows each year, a Holiday show and a Spring Ice Show. Our holiday show consists of our Learn to Skate USA groups and advanced groups performing group numbers and our advanced I, and II skaters performing duos and trio routines. This is an opportunity for all of our skaters to show off what they have learned for family, friends, and the community. Our Spring Ice show follows a story line based after a different movie production each year. It involves costumes, props, lights, characters, etc. Each advanced skater gets a specific character and performs a solo as well as group numbers. Our basic skills levels, adults, and freestyle level perform group numbers.
