Come curious ~ leave judgement at the door. PSST!

Free for all. (People’s Song SocieTea) is a small, community-centered gathering where artists share songs or poems (etc.) inspired by current events, followed by conversation. Prescheduled performers bring one piece, introduce why the topic matters to them and explain their piece then perform. It’s a no-bigotry, curiosity-forward space focused on ideas and dialogue. Free to attend, donation-based, and very intimate (4–6 performers per night). Last Thursday of every month, Bantha Tea Bar, 7-9ish

We had another BEAUTIFUL night of art, music, and poetry at the September PSST! So grateful for the artists who share their vulnerability, and the audience who holds them in that moment. It's incredible!

A little last-minute PSST! artist update ✨

We’re sad to share that our scheduled poet, Marie Elizabeth Thomas, is unable to join us tonight due to illness ~ we’re sending her lots of love and wishes for a quick recovery. 💛 Happily, Marie is already rescheduled to join us at our next gathering on October 29!

In the meantime, we’re so grateful to welcome Payge Gray, who has graciously stepped in at the last minute to share her words with us tonight!

Payge Gray is a local artist and poet who draws much of her inspiration from a deeply rooted desire to transmute the pain she sees in the world into a light of hope — helping us navigate dark moments and carrying us closer to ourselves and one another.

A pretty perfect voice to add to the PSST! room. ☕️

Jonathan is a conscientious graphic designer and visual digital artist who has been helping to brand Pittsburgh non-profits for over 25 years. You might even recognize some of his designs around the city. Originally from rural Michigan, he lives in lower Lawrenceville with his husband Mark, and kitty cat Asia.

Jonathan has been an OG supporter of PSST! since Day One and we're so excited to be featuring his graphic work ~ on September 24th ~ Bantha Tea Bar

Zoob is a New York born guitarist and songwriter who moved to
Pittsburgh at 18, played in Wreck Loose, The House of Song,
Biirdwatcher and a long list of others, alongside stints as musical
director for the WYEP Hootenanny, the WDVE Christmas show, and several
of Randy Baumann's Rambles. In 2021 he released his first solo album,
California Burning, which the Post-Gazette called "a parting gift…
that highlights his fluid guitar work and tender vocals," then left
for Los Angeles to get a master's in studio guitar performance from
USC. He's back now, and wondering if you wanna hang out.

Marie Elizabeth Thomas is a writer and poet living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her husband and their 2 cats (one of whom is a demon child, and the other, an idiot). Marie regularly participates in readingsvaround Pittsburgh and has won numerous poetry slams with the Pittsburgh Poetry Collective. Her work explores the intersection of religious trauma, deconstruction, mental illness, and the strangeness of stability.

Beth Claussen is a creative spirit who loves combining natural treasures such as grapevine, twigs and sticks along with flowers and fabric to assemble one of a kind peace signs. She is a vocal coach, porch concert producer and a woman who loves sharing her hippie-peace-sign vibe with the world!

Beth is also a community maker ~ her final iteration of her growing Porch Concert Series is this Friday, 9/18, at the corner of Jancey and Hampton, 6pm.

OrangeG is an experimental folk act based in Pittsburgh, PA. Their songs are often introspective focusing on social and mental challenges of living on this planet with all of its imperfections. Live performances include atmospheric sound collages that place songs into specific moments and moods.

Mark Broscoe is a Pittsburgh-based singer/songwriter, crafting songs from the heart to stir the soul. Drawing on a diverse range of influences from folk to jazz to post-punk, Broscoe creates captivating melodies with unique chord progressions. Mental health and spirituality are prevalent themes throughout his songwriting, excavating the inner landscape with the hopes of inspiring change and growth.
