The snow fell on January 25th, but it’s *still* not gone from all of Pittsburgh’s sidewalks and curb cuts! When snow piles up in the crosswalk or bus stop, disabled and non-driving people are trapped in their homes.

The City can clear the next snowfall if you tell your Councilmember: we need a plan for the next snowfall that doesn’t leave non-drivers stranded!

Head to the link in our bio to contact your Councilmember in under 2 minutes. Massive thanks to Pittsburgh Center for Disability Justice, Access Mob Pittsburgh, and Bike Pittsburgh for all their leadership on this issue ♿️🚲✊

Celebrating palaces for the people at the new northside bus shelter, built in collaboration between and transit riders! Thank you to , , , and for all your support on this wonderful new public good (and for braving the cold!)

02/05/2026

It's been almost two weeks since the snow fell, and unplowed curb cuts, intersections, and bus stops are *still* trapping so many disabled Pittsburghers in their homes. We deserve a full solution, a snow emergency response that values disabled people and pedestrians as much as it values cars. In the meantime, please check out Pittsburgh Center for Disability Justice's mutual aid form: request public areas that need shoveled, or (especially) volunteer to shovel public areas so everyone can get where they need to go.

30% of people in Allegheny County don’t drive a car because of age, disability, or income, but still need safe, accessible, affordable ways to get where they need to go. Week Without Driving, started by disability advocates in Washington State, illustrates the challenges non-drivers face and calls for improvements to our sidewalks, roads, and transportation system as a whole. FISA supports a Week Without Driving PGH, happening from September 29th to October 5th.

We challenge you to go one full week without driving. "How hard could it be," you ask?

Across Allegheny County, ~30% of people do not drive a car, and it poses real challenges every day. Week Without Driving tells these stories and calls for change.

Whether you drive or not, YOU can pledge NOW to support the Week Without Driving in our region as an individual, organization, or elected official.

Mark your calendars and participate:
𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟐𝟗 - 𝐎𝐜𝐭. 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

Hosted locally by Pittsburghers for Public Transit, Access Mob Pittsburgh, Bike Pittsburgh, and Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh, we’re raising awareness for greater mobility needs in every community.

Here are a few things we're up against right now:
-Proposed PRT funding cuts
-Insufficient ACCESS services
-An incomplete bike network
-An ever-evolving need for sidewalk improvements
-Federal deprioritization of traffic safety & public transit...

Now more than ever, we need to tell our stories!
