🖤 We are heartbroken to learn that Patricia Woolheater, 67, was hit and killed by a driver while crossing the street in Munhall near Homestead yesterday, October 6.

Reports show that the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was turning from Dickson St onto East 8th Ave, which is a primary commercial corridor with bus stops and shops. And though it should be a place where people can safely walk to shops, visit loved ones, and run errands, this street remains highly dangerous. On this stretch, there have been 5 fatal or serious injury crashes involving non motorists over the past 5 years.

Tragedies like this make clear that our built environment needs to protect vulnerable road users, and that we MUST do better to make our streets safe for everyone.

This Friday, Shore Thing will be the finish line for the Multi-Modal "Race" as part of 2026. Whether they're walking, rolling or riding to the North Shore, finishers and supporters will gather on board for a happy hour meet-up.

Riverlife is proud to support Week Without Driving, which calls attention to the challenges non-drivers face in our region so that we can address them. Every person deserves safe and convenient transportation options, no matter how they get around.
