Pittsburgh Hires Veterans champions veteran employment through comprehensive services and strong employer partnerships. The organization offers one-on-one career readiness coaching, helping veterans define goals, polish resumes, and master interview skills.

We connect veterans and employers through three key programs: a free Job Bank hosted on our website, quarterly Veteran Passport to Employment guidance events, and the successful annual National Hire a Veteran Day Job Fair.

With over 500 regional employer partners, PHV creates job pipelines and advocates for best practices in hiring and retaining veterans. This is further cemented by leading the Pittsburgh Veteran Employment Collaborative, a group that shares and promotes effective veteran hiring strategies.

Despite their strong leadership and work ethic, Veterans face significant systemic barriers when entering the civilian workforce, primarily due to a lack of established corporate networks and a translation gap where military skills are misunderstood by civilian recruiters. Dismantling these deeply ingrained hurdles requires society and employers to move beyond basic hiring pledges and actively create better pathways for skill translation, credential recognition, and inclusive recruiting.

April was a standout month for Pittsburgh Hires Veterans (PHV)! We are seeing incredible momentum and a robust pipeline of veteran talent ready to enter the civilian workforce.

Here is a quick look at the impact we made last month:

36 New Registrations: Our largest single-month intake of the year!

141 Active Job Seekers: Actively supporting veterans across all phases of the pipeline (Initial Assessment, Preparatory, and Active).

$65,312 Average Full-Time Salary: A strong result with a broad range that highlights our ability to serve veterans at every stage of their career journey.

We don't just look for quick fixes. We stand by our veterans, providing ongoing support to ensure they find the right fit.

While Loyalty Day celebrates our shared American freedom, Silver Star Banner Day allows us to pause and recognize the incredible resilience of our ill and injured veterans. We owe them our deepest gratitude.
