Pittsburgh Mercy Associates

Pittsburgh Mercy Associates Associates live out their commitments in independent lifestyles, answering the call to mercy within the context of their daily lives.

Mercy Associates are women and men who discern a call from God to actively engage in a commitment to mercy within a formal relationship with the Sisters of Mercy. Mercy Associates respond to the Gospel invitation of Jesus to minister to those who are poor, sick and uneducated through the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. There are more than 3,000 Mercy Associates in our Institute of the Siste

rs of Mercy of the Americas, including in the U.S., Latin America, Jamaica, Guam and the Philippines. All Mercy Associates are called to deepen their spirituality and to extend mercy to others. Associates and Sisters of Mercy support one another in prayer, ministry and community, united in our desire to become more compassionate women and men by witnessing to God’s mercy in the world.

Sr. Sheila is giving the Keynote at Carlow University graduation!

Before she takes the stage at Commencement this Saturday, it’s worth taking a moment to consider the kind of impact Sister Sheila has made. From founding the Carlow Roundtable to building initiatives that connect campus and community, her work has shaped how Carlow lives its mission every day.

As she prepares to serve as this year’s keynote speaker and receive an honorary doctorate, we’re reflecting on everything she’s meant to this community.

Carlow’s largest graduating class will celebrate Commencement on May 9 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Associate Darcy Osby will be walking on The Coldest Night of the Year to raise funds for Pittsburgh Mercy’s Bethlehem Haven shelter which provides a women’s shelter as well as a medical respite center for individuals to recover after being discharged from the hospital. If you’d like to donate, please use the link below:

The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities. Let’s gather together for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it’s cold out there.
