MWH Ob/Gyn Alumni This page is to keep former department faculty, trainees, and staff updated on news and events.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training program at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital was first accredited by the ACGME in 1959 and is proud of its continual accreditation since its first review. The program has graduated 405 trainees with the first two graduating in 1949. Dr. Virginia Werden was the first woman to complete training in 1952. The program now has nine trainees graduating each year

with a total of 36 residents. In 2011 the program’s complement will increase from 9 to 10 trainees at each level of training and will graduate its first class of 10 in 2015. We are proud of the excellent Obstetrician-Gynecologists that have trained here, many of whom have gone on to be national leaders in the field.
