PSH is excited to launch our Monthly Scholar Spotlight by celebrating Natresha James!🌟 As a Scholar Community Engagement Leader (SCEL), Natresha helps strengthen our Scholar community and shape events and programming that support fellow Scholars.

“PSH has truly become the vessel that allows me to pour into others. It’s the space where my experiences, my resilience, and my calling to uplift others all come together.”

Natresha’s commitment to growth and uplifting others is reflected in her own educational journey. In May 2026, she earned her Associate of Science in Computer and Information Systems from CCAC and is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Bellevue University. 🎓

We’re also celebrating an exciting career milestone! Through Ready2Prosper, Natresha worked one-on-one with our Economic Mobility Manager to prepare for the hiring process and secure her first professional role at PNC.

“Working with the Pittsburgh Scholar House through Ready2Prosper was a turning point for me. The one-on-one guidance helped me identify my strengths, build real clarity and confidence, and prepare for each stage of the hiring process. That support made all the difference in securing my first professional role at PNC and stepping into it with pride.”

Natresha’s story reflects what’s possible when Scholars have the guidance, resources, and encouragement to turn their goals into action. We’re proud of her accomplishments and excited to see what comes next!

🚀 Ready2Prosper officially launches in 2027!The program will connect Scholars with career exploration, job search coaching, educational opportunities, workforce development programs, and interview preparation to help them build meaningful careers and greater economic mobility for themselves and their families.

Each month, Pittsburgh Scholar House will spotlight a Scholar and share inspiring stories of determination, resilience, and success along their college and career journeys.

From classrooms to careers, our Scholars are creating brighter futures for themselves and their children—and we can’t wait to celebrate what’s next!

🎬✨ Our final National Student Parent Month Spotlight is Mariah Torres! Mariah is an awesome creative with big dreams and a vision for her future in the arts. She earned her Associate degree in Liberal Arts and Science from CCAC and plans to pursue a BFA in Film Production and a Master’s in Sports, Arts, Entertainment and Music Management.

Also, Mariah earned a teaching artist certification from the Mosaic Institute & Basquiat Fellowship. Next, she hopes to join a writers’ room as she continues building her skills and learning the business side of the arts. 🎥✨

Through the Wayfinders Program Mariah discovered that there are many pathways to becoming a successful filmmaker and production company owner—and she’s excited to explore them!

Most importantly, Mariah is creating a path her son can see and follow. “My educational journey has impacted my son in so many ways but most importantly by giving him active visuals of me thriving in higher education. From us sitting at the table and doing homework together to us both coming home to brag about our test grades, I think it's important for him to know that learning does not stop after high school and if you want something bad enough you have to continue working towards it. I want to continue working towards for financial freedom and achieving it in front of him so that when it is his turn to go to college, he feels prepared and knows his Mom made a path for him."

🎓Today’s National Student Parent Month spotlight is Sarah Caldwell. 🎉

Sarah’s story is a beautiful example of a Scholar with a clear vision for the future. Sarah earned her associate degree in criminal justice corrections from CCAC and has her sights set on becoming a victim advocate. She also dreams of building her own business as a certified death doula, supporting individuals and families navigating terminal illness—especially veterans—in honor of her father, a Navy veteran.

At PSH, we’re committed to supporting Scholars from college preparation to career. Sarah’s journey reminds us that career aspirations can be deeply connected to our passions, experiences, and desire to serve others.

🎓It’s the final week of National Student Parent Month - a time to celebrate parenting students who are balancing college, careers, and raising their children while working toward a brighter future for their families.

Today, we’re proud to spotlight Cheri Wilson! 🎉Cheri recently earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from CCAC, and her children were right there cheering her on! Cheri says that her children were extremely proud and excited to see her graduate. “I believe showing my children it can be done encourages them to pursue their educational journey as well."

Cheri’s journey doesn’t stop here! She is exploring nursing opportunities and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs as she continues working toward her ultimate goal of earning a doctorate and becoming a nurse midwife. We need caring and compassionate healthcare professionals like Cheri, and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next!

🎓National Student Parent Month honors parenting students in higher education. Today’s Spotlight is celebrating Khaleena Yates. 🎉
Khaleena’s journey to earning her degree is a powerful example of what’s possible when determination meets the right support.

"The support, encouragement, and resources from PSH were the most impactful on my success. Having people who believed in me, helped remove barriers, and reminded me to keep going made a huge difference. The program helped me stay focused on my goals while balancing motherhood, work, and school."

Khaleena earned her degree in Early Development and Learning from Carlow University, graduating magna cm laude! 🎉Today, Khaleena is using her education and experience to support young children through her work in early childhood education and behavioral health.

🎓As we continue to celebrate National Student Parent Month, today’s spotlight is on Nevaeh Delaney! Nevaeh is a proud graduate of Robert Morris University’s Massey Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing! 🎉Nevaeh’s entrepreneurial journey doesn’t stop with her degree. A talented hairstylist, she’s ready to turn her passion, creativity, and business knowledge into something of her own.
Nevaeh shared: "I want to continue doing hair and eventually opening up a salon and an online store selling products."

We love seeing her vision come to life—and even more, we love that her daughter has been watching her work toward her goals. "She has watched me study and work very hard to finish school. I hope that one day, she will want to do the same."

Nevaeh's ambition, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit are inspiring! We can’t wait to see the brand you build and all the possibilities ahead. 🎓Today’s National Student Parent Month Spotlight is celebrating LaShesia Holliday!
LaShesia is deeply passionate about her community and being a source of support for others. She recently earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh, and she’s not stopping there! Next on her educational journey, LaShesia plans to pursue her MSW at Pitt.

Reflecting on her journey as a parenting student, LaShesia shared: “The financial assistance, academic support, and encouragement I received through Pittsburgh Scholar House were instrumental in my success. Having a community that understood the unique challenges of being a student parent helped me remain focused on my goals during difficult times. The support I received reduced barriers that might otherwise have prevented me from completing my degree."

LaShesia’s children have seen firsthand the value of perseverance, hard work, and education. "They have watched me pursue my goals despite obstacles, and I hope that example inspires them to believe they can achieve their own dreams. My children have also become more independent and resilient as our family has navigated this journey together."

🎓Today, for National Student Parent Month, we’re celebrating Kiehl Jackson!
Kiehl earned her Associate of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from CCAC! 🎉 One of Kiehl’s biggest challenges was balancing a full-time school schedule while being a full-time parent to three children. Through it all, she kept going and her children were watching every step of the way. As Kiehl shared, “They honestly are more proud of me than I am with myself, I think.”

Up next, Kiehl is preparing for her boards and looking forward to spending more time with her children. We know they’ll be cheering her on every step of the way!
