The Pittsburgh Scholar House’s College & Career Housing Program, in partnership with Woodlawn Lofts at Hazelwood Green, is now accepting interest from eligible single-parenting Scholars for 13 brand-new two-bedroom apartments.

As part of our Wayfinders University (WayU) pathway, this unique opportunity combines safe, affordable housing with the educational, career, and family supports parents need to thrive. Eligible Scholars may qualify to lease a beautiful new apartment at reduced rental rates based on household income and rent limits established by the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh through Project-Based Vouchers (PBVs).

Who is eligible?
✔️ Single-parenting Scholars
✔️ Enrolled in college, a professional degree program, or a qualifying workforce training program
✔️ Eligible for a Project-Based Voucher (PBV)
✔️ Willing to participate in the Pittsburgh Scholar House program

Located in the heart of Hazelwood Green, Woodlawn Lofts offers convenient access to public transportation and community amenities, while Pittsburgh Scholar House provides personalized supports to help Scholars persist, graduate, and achieve long-term economic mobility.

🏠 Only 13 units are available. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to income verification, household eligibility requirements, and program participation.

Thank you for making our Annual Family Fun & Resource Fair a success!

During the Dollar Bank Reception at The I AM Gala, Pittsburgh Scholar House was presented with the 2026 Homeless Education Network (HEN) Collaborative Impact Grant by the Homeless Children's Education Fund (HCEF).

This $15,000 will support PSH's Wayfinders program, which serves single-parent students pursuing postsecondary education, through stable housing, structured incentives and individualized case management.

"Pittsburgh Scholar House is honored and grateful to receive this award from HCEF," said Dr. Daren Ellerbee, CEO of PSH. "This grant will help us provide the support, stability and encouragement these young families need to stay enrolled, earn their credentials and create a stronger future for the next generation. Pittsburgh Scholar House will be closed today, Friday, June 19th in honor of JUNETEENTH!! ❤️🖤💚💛 This day marks not just the end of slavery, but the continued fight for justice—especially within education systems that have historically excluded and underserved Black communities. At PSH, we remain committed to building a more just and inclusive future where all families have access to opportunity, economic mobility, dignity, and the support they need to thrive. ✊🏾
