Mothers of Incarcerated Sons™ strives for a just and compassionate world where all families impacted by incarceration are seen, heard, supported, and empowered to thrive; during and beyond the carceral experience. Founded by the mother of an incarcerated son, MIS calls attention to the unseen financial, emotional, and social struggles of the women that are adversely affected by the imprisonment of

their loved ones. Through community outreach, voter registration, and fundraising, this growing nonprofit organization raises awareness about the impacts of mass incarceration on incarcerated people and their families, and organizes both indirect and direct aid to mitigate them.

Rain or shine, we showed up.
Today, Mothers of Incarcerated Sons™ stood in solidarity with Black Voters Matter and 412Justice at the Capitol in Harrisburg, united in our commitment to protect and strengthen public school education across the Commonwealth. Despite the cloudy skies and misty rain, our voices were clear: our schools matter, our students matter, and our communities deserve better.
We’re calling on leaders to stop school closings and invest in the future of public education. Together, we will keep advocating until every student has access to the opportunities they deserve.

MIS stands in SOLIDARITY to lift up the good work being done throughout PA to put an end to solitary confinement! From the inside out: end solitary confinement in PA DOC! The fight is from inside the walls of prisons and jails, in courtrooms, state reps' offices and out in the streets across the Commonwealth. End solitary confinement!!!!!

🎉 Exciting News for MIS! 🎉
Please celebrate Terri Minor-Spencer! 🎊
We're beyond proud to announce Terri in a new role as Community Organizer— while no stranger to our mission, she now joins us as a full-time staff member! 👏🏾👏🏾
As a founding board member, Terri has been instrumental in shaping our vision from day one. Her deep commitment to community activism, social justice, and advocating for the rights and dignity of formerly incarcerated individuals continues to inspire us all.
Please join us in celebrating this next chapter in her journey with Mothers of Incarcerated Sons — we're honored to have her lived experience and passion now driving our work on the ground every day. 🧡🖤🧡Join us in giving her a warm welcome as we, together, continue to uplift voices, break barriers, build a more just and inclusive future and remove the blinders to see the Invisible Prisoner!
