K9 Paw Print Rescue K9 Paw Print Rescue – Contra Costa 🐾
Small volunteer run, foster-based, all-breed dog rescue of the East Bay Area, CA. EIN: 41-3740321

We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need, primarily from overcrowded shelters. 501(c)(3) nonprofit. K9 Paw Print Rescue was established in 2012 by a group of animal lovers dedicated to rescuing dogs abandoned in local shelters and facing euthanasia. Our organization is composed of dedicated, experienced and hardworking volunteers and loving foster homes. Dogs in our program are evaluated for temperament and health, medically treated (if necessary) and placed in foster homes until they are deemed ready for adoption. K9PPR’s main goal is to rescue the dogs with little to no chance of being adopted in municipal shelters. Unfortunately, many shelter dogs fall into this category due to fear, neglect, abuse, treatable illnesses, age as well as a host of other reasons. Thanks to the help of our training and veterinary partners as well as our fosters and volunteers, we are able to help many of these “underdogs” and set them up for successful placement in loving forever homes. As of 2020 we have placed over 1,000 dogs (and a few cats) in wonderful homes! Please visit our website: k9ppr.org for more about our organization.

Dolly's babies are 5 weeks old and growing like weeds! Jolene is the tan/blond girl and is super chill. The boys, Tennessee and Porter are fluffier and very playful. Truvy, biggest girl who got stuck in the birth canal, is by far the most adventurous and keeps us on our toes. Just a few more weeks and they'll be ready for foster to adopt through K9 Paw Print Rescue!

We are also taking guesses on what breeds they are mixed with. Mama is a small black chihuahua, but daddy is a mystery. We will be getting DNA results back for Jolene and Tennessee in the next few weeks.

🐾 Patches is ADOPTED! 🤍 Patches finally found the right home that understands and can manage all his little quirks, while giving him the socializing, playtime and environment he needs to thrive!

We really do try hard to find the right fit, not just the next available home. These dogs have already been failed once, and they deserve for their next home to truly be forever.

Not every rescue is as particular as we are, and we know our process can take longer but there’s a reason our return rate is so low.. Every dog is an individual and has their own specific needs, and our goal isn’t just getting dogs adopted it’s figuring out what is ideal for the them, giving them stability and getting it RIGHT so they don’t ever feel instability again.

Happy FUREVER Patches! 🐾❤️

🐾🤍 ADOPTION UPDATE 🤍🐾 Just look at these two now. 🥹 Their coats look amazing, their ears are healthy, they’re happy, spoiled, and living their absolute best lives together in San Francisco with the most wonderful paw-rents as Barney and Lily.

It’s hard to believe how rough of shape they were once in. These two went through a huge medical journey because of the level of neglect they had suffered. Their paws, skin overall and especially ears disease was so severe that at one point we were worried they could end up needing major surgery, including complete ear canal removal.

Thankfully, with a LOT of treatment, time and care, they healed beautifully 🐶🐶 and seeing them healthy and happy and in a stable home who knows how to care for them now is exactly why we do this. 🤍

Unfortunately, we see medical bulldogs way too often especially Frenchies coming into shelters. Everyone wants these adorable little dogs, but not everyone understands the reality of properly caring for them. Frenchies can come with significant allergies, chronic ear and skin issues, breathing problems, spinal and eye problems, and some very expensive veterinary needs. You have to be so hyper on top of their care and management.

This is exactly why we are soooo careful about placing them. Loving the look or personality of a Frenchie is one thing.. Being prepared to properly care for one for their entire life is another!

These two deserved people who truly understood that responsibility, and they absolutely hit the jackpot. We couldn’t be more grateful to their amazing family for loving them, keeping them together, and giving them the life they always deserved. 🥹🤍🐾

Just a little update video on the not so little puppies Dolly Momma is raising. Stay tuned for when these babies will need homes. They’ll be adoptable before you know it!

It’s such a miracle Momma Dolly is alive! ❤️ The photo says it all -Dolly pictured w/ one of her 4 oversized puppies, who is nearly her size within 1.5 ish weeks of being born! It’s hard to believe she even survived carrying puppies inside her that big and it shows just how dangerous and unbelievable it was. Ughh.. a senior dog, let alone this TINY, should never have had to go through the trauma and risk of carrying babies this large.
We had pulled Dolly from the shelter just hours before she went into labor. She was to get X-rays the following day at our vet because her age, tiny size, and huge belly had us very worried if she could even have these pups! Well that night she faced the exact emergency we feared and Dolly very easily could have died. 🥺
Please, spay and neuter your animals! They depend on us to protect them from THESE situations, and her people before failed her bad. This is why spaying and neutering matters so much. “Oops litters” usually aren’t accidents!!l It’s the result of intact animals not being responsibly managed and ignorant people often don’t realize how serious the consequences can be for the animals involved!
Pregnancy and remaining unspayed can come with very real, potentially deadly risks.. from pyometra to a tiny female being impregnated by a dangerously larger dog and ending up unable to safely deliver her puppies costing 10-20k at an emergency vet to save. And this is why so many of us in rescue and vet medicine are not against spay abort procedures. When an animal is pregnant often their health/safety is at risk for many reasons and we believe the mother’s well-being must come first. Every situation is different, but no animal should be forced to endure a dangerous pregnancy simply because people are uncomfortable with the decision. The animal overpopulation crisis is DIRE. Young puppies and wonderful adult dogs of every breed and age are being euthanized because shelters and rescues are out of space. We urgently need more free and low-cost spay/neuter services, along w/ legislative changes that make prevention more accessible and help stop this heartbreaking cycle.

This is absolutely adorable! Such a wonderful part of Rescue is seeing them blossom and get joy out of things that they didn’t understand or trust before! Aunt May came from Contra Costa animal services and was a super terrified little lady who needed a patient Foster home urgently. Her foster dad has been so proud of her and seeing her blossom into the silly playful girl she is now. She has met gentle children and even let them pet her. She will still need a patient home who understands a little sensitive girl that needs some guidance, but she is ready to find her forever. Read her full bio on our website www.K9ppr.org 💕 ❤️K9ppr

Help us find Aunt May Pawrker the BEST home! 🤍
This sweet little lady came to us from Contra Costa Animal Services absolutely terrified, and while she has come SO far, she is still very shy with new people and needs a truly patient, loving, understanding home.

Once she feels safe, her silly little personality starts to shine. She just needs someone willing to earn her trust and let her come around at her own pace.

Please share, share, share and help us find the right forever person for this sensitive little girl. 🥹

A detailed adoption application is required to be considered.
