Kane. Eight years old. Short legs. Big bully body. One gorgeous blue eye that can stare directly into your soul.

AND STILL HOMELESS.
Now, let me tell you how this little situation went down.
I came to the shelter because my owner had to go to jail. The arrangement was that I would hang out here for about 30 DAYS until he could come back and get me.

Okay. Fine. I can do 30 days.

WELL, GUESS WHAT?!
30 DAYS TURNED INTO EIGHT FREAKING MONTHS!!! 😳
EIGHT. MONTHS.

And nobody ever came back for me.

WELL, ISN’T THAT A LOAD OF CRAP?! 💩
Excuse my language, but I’m EIGHT YEARS OLD. I didn’t exactly have an eight-month vacation at an animal shelter on my retirement bingo card!

And now here I sit, waiting for somebody to realize what an absolute GEM I am. 💎❤️

Let’s discuss my qualifications, shall we?
🐾 HOUSEBROKEN! That’s right. I know where to do my business. I’m a gentleman.
🐾 PROFESSIONAL LOW-RIDER! Short legs, big bully body. Built like a coffee table with a heartbeat.
🐾 ONE BLUE EYE! Yes, I can see directly into your soul. Seriously. He looks at you like he knows your Social Security number, your credit score, and what you did in 1997. 🐾🐾
🐾 DOG SELECTIVE! I seem to be okay around a calm female, but proper introductions are necessary. Honestly, I’d be perfectly happy being your one and only!

NOW… WHERE ARE MY SINGLE GUYS?! 😎
Listen, fellas.
You need a wingman?
A buddy to watch football with?
Somebody to hang out with who won’t judge you for eating an entire pizza by yourself?

Urgent plea for fosters!!
We received a heart-wrenching request for help from a shelter in NC but we cannot help if we don't have fosters.... If you can open your heart and home to one of these dogs, they need to leave the shelter by tomorrow Tuesday October 13 at the latest!

Aussiedoodle 1 & 2 - Male, 6 months old, 17-20 pounds, owner surrender - animal control mandated.

Aussiedoodle 3 - Male, 6 months old, 16 pounds, owner surrender - animal control mandated.

Litter 2 - Females, 4 months old, owner surrender - unwanted litter. Can be pulled separately.

Sweet Potato - Spayed Female, 5 years old, Beagle Mix, 34 pounds, stray. Dog friendly.

Cornbread - Neutered Male, 6 years old, Beagle Mix, 37 pounds, stray. Dog friendly.

Ruben - Male, 3 years old, 28 pounds, owner surrender - has too many animals (surrendered with Bon and Miklo)

Bon - Male, 2 years old, 27 pounds, owner surrender - has too many animals (surrendered with Ruben and Miklo)

Miklo - Male, 1 year old, owner surrender - has too many animals (surrendered with Bon and Ruben). Very timid.

Paisley - Female, 2 years old, Olde English Bulldog, 64 pounds, owner surrender - Moving. Ok with dogs, per owner.

Apple Pie - Female, 5 years old, 54 pounds, stray. Did great on dog test.

Sasha - Female, Maltese Mix, 4.5 years old, 7 pounds, owner surrender - not enough time. Bit a kennel attendant during her first week here, but has come out of her shell since and allows us to pet and pick her up.

Lobo - Male, 6 months old, Husky Mix, 37 pounds, owner surrender - landlord does not allow.

Litter 1 - All females, 4-5 months old, 20-25 pounds, strays.

Baxter - Male, 1 year old, 90 pounds, owner surrender - too much responsibility.

We had a gut feeling this could happen, all other urgent dogs from last week have found placement except for our senior dog Willard. He is now at risk of being euthanized🥺

Willard comes to us as a stray found by a Good Samaritan. He was found near an exit off of the main highway and was kept safe until a road specialist was able to respond. We don't know if Willard has simply lost his way from his family or if he was purposefully left behind, we don't want to choose to believe the latter💔

Our veterinary team has looked over Willard and he is going to need continued medical care. Willard is geriatric and is suffering from suspected arthritis. He also has severe dental disease and will need a dental cleaning and most likely extractions. However, his bloodwork shows that he is anemic so this will need to be addressed before he could become a surgical candidate. He is also positive for HW disease😔

We know our rescue partners just like us are at capacity, foster homes are already full, donations are fewer, vet prices are higher. It's a big ask for any organization to take on a senior that will need long-term support. But not any of this is Willard's fault😢
