An Ordinary Wednesday
At Desert Springs, we love hearing how God is at work. These stories remind us that Jesus is alive and active in our community, and often, he uses ordinary people like you and me. Here is a story of God at work from Enrique, our Student Ministry Director.
A few weeks ago, one of our students brought a friend to Youth Night for the first time. He jumped into the night, sat in a small group, and on his way out he stopped one of our youth leaders and said, "Wow, I felt so welcomed and accepted. This is awesome what you guys do. And you do this every Wednesday?"
That alone would have made my week.
Later that night, the parent of the student who invited him told us something we did not know: this young man comes from a Muslim background. The parent was grateful for how our team welcomed him and put him at ease as he connected with other students.
Then the leader of his small group told us one more thing. He felt comfortable enough to pray with the group.
A student walked into our ministry for the first time from a completely different faith background, and he met a group of open-hearted people who welcomed him, loved him, and made sure he felt like he belonged. We did not know his story when he arrived, but we knew that he mattered, is loved by God, and was looking for a safe community.

Thank you, DSBC, for being the kind of community where anyone can walk through the doors and be welcomed, known, and cared for, and where people feel safe enough to show up, ask real questions, and take their next step toward Jesus.
