The Fall Stock Market Game is heating up!

Several weeks into the competition, students across Arizona are putting their investing skills to work, researching companies, managing their portfolios, and adjusting their strategies as the market changes.

Current leaders:
• High School: BASIS Peoria
• Middle School: All Saints' Episcopal Day School
• Elementary School: Country Place Elementary School

October is Economic Education Month, a national effort to bring attention to the importance of teaching economics and making sure students understand the economy they are growing up in.

Before we know it, today’s students will be the employees, entrepreneurs, business owners, consumers and leaders making decisions inside that economy. But understanding how an economy works does not happen automatically.

Students need opportunities to learn why markets change, how incentives shape behavior, why resources are limited, how businesses make decisions and how individual choices connect to much larger economic forces.

Throughout October, the Arizona Council on Economic Education will highlight the teachers, programs and experiences helping students across our state build that understanding. And we need more people talking about it!
