We are heartbroken to share that sweet Jolene has passed away. 💔
Jolene came to us as a rescue transfer from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control after she was found as a stray with her pups, already facing more than any dog should have to endure. She had lost an eye and was struggling with serious complications in her remaining eye. After weeks of trying to understand what was happening, we finally had an answer: blastomycosis, a serious fungal infection that is rare in Arizona.
We fought for Jolene every step of the way. We pursued answers, started treatment, consulted specialists, and did everything medically possible to give this sweet girl a chance. Sadly her little body was fighting more than it could overcome. Through it all, she remained surrounded by people who loved her and refused to give up on her.
We are incredibly grateful to PACC911 🐈🐕 Animal Coalition Critical Care Program for helping make that care possible. Because of their support, we were able to say yes to Jolene and give her the medical attention she so desperately needed.
And while our hearts are broken that we couldn’t save her, we find comfort in knowing that Jolene was never alone. This sweet stray girl got to know warmth, kindness, comfort, and love. She was cared for. She was cherished. And when she passed, she was surrounded by people who loved her. Jolene deserved more time. But she mattered, and she was so very loved.
