After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, Yvonne McLean Florence participated in a clinical trial testing an experimental drug. While the side effects ultimately led her to withdrawal from the trial, enough women benefited from the drug that it was approved by the FDA in 2017. Today, Yvonne is a dedicated patient advocate who works to educate African Americans about the benefits of clinical trials. She shared her story in Cancer Today Magazine:
