Mark Perry, Conservancy co-founder and ocean liner memorabilia enthusiast, is offering incredible original SS United States items at auction: authentic stateroom furnishings, brushed aluminum railings and signage, advertising posters, rare models, and more.
He is generously donating a portion of the proceeds to the Conservancy. Mark's contributions to the Conservancy are long-standing, he brought national attention to the Big U with his work on the documentary film "SS United States: Lady in Waiting” (2008). He is also currently at work on "Superliner: The Enduring Legacy of the SS United States," our forthcoming feature-length documentary about the Big U's legacy and recent history.
Earlier this year, Mark worked closely with the Conservancy to identify special items from his collection to donate to the Conservancy's future museum and visitor experience. These included the personal scrapbook and possessions of Commodore Harry Manning, who captained the SS United States on her triumphal maiden voyage. He also contributed original deck chairs and the captain's coffee table to display in our future museum and visitor experience, where we will reunite the thousands of remarkable items once aboard the SS United States for the first time in over 50 years.
