The Fishtown District has a few last-minute openings for chalk artists on Saturday, June 27. This is a great opportunity to transform the streets of Fishtown into a colorful outdoor gallery while sharing your talent with the community.

Get ready for a colorful day of creativity, community, and fun! This month’s Under the El Bazaar transforms the street into an outdoor canvas as talented local artists create stunning chalk masterpieces right on the pavement.

In addition to live chalk art demonstrations, guests can enjoy:

Fishtown District's Kalaya, located at 4 W Palmer Street, can add another award to its name! In this year's 2026 James Beard Awards, Kalaya has taken home the prestigious honor of winning "Outstanding Restaurant", and we are incredibly proud of their amazing accomplishment!

The Philadelphia Inquirer took a closer look at this year's awards, and the monumental win for Kalaya yet again:

Kalaya won outstanding restaurant and Chef Jesse Ito of Royal Sushi & Izakaya won best chef, Mid-Atlantic at the 2026 James Beard Awards. Philly had seven total finalists across five categories.

Here in Fishtown, the Albanian American Muslim Society at 157 W Girard Avenue provides a prayer space and community support for Muslims. This Sunni mosque serves as a place for reflection and community for its members, emphasizing the importance of faith and fellowship.

The mosque conducts five daily prayers and Jumu'ah (Friday congregational) prayers, providing opportunities for worship and community gatherings. English is the primary language spoken here, making it accessible for many in the area.
