Week by week, trust grows. Women have a place where they can speak openly, feel heard, and know they can return.

Our hearts are with the Venezuelan community after the devastating earthquake on June 24. We are thinking of Venezuelan families, neighbors, and community members in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania who may be grieving, worried, or carrying the weight of this tragedy from afar. We stand with you in solidarity and care.

As we gather for our annual in-person convening, we will use this time to provide mutual support, nourishment, and conversations and activities that inspire and sustain us for the continued work ahead.
We look forward to having this convening as an opportunity to connect.

You can translate words, but translating emotions, situations, and systems all day long is a different kind of exhaustion. One that sleep does not fix.
If this feeling is familiar, you are not imagining it.
Today, give yourself five minutes where you don't have to translate anything for anyone. Put the phone down. Sit somewhere quiet. Let your mind rest in the language it thinks in.

La Puerta Abierta has been awarded a $100,000 grant from , and our hearts are still full.

This grant will help us keep doing what we do every day:
Free mental health care in Spanish.
Culturally grounded. Relationship-based.
For immigrant families in Philadelphia who can't get care through insurance.

This is the voice we hear.

The person who held it together for everyone else. Who never asked for help. Who didn't think they deserved to.

At La Puerta Abierta, we make space for that person. For the moment, they are finally ready to put it down. In our community, in Philadelphia, our door has always been and will always be open.

Mental Health Awareness Month. But really, every month. 🌿

What do newcomer students carry before they ever walk into a classroom?
Yesterday, the La Puerta Abierta team brought that conversation to the Chester County Intermediate Unit, in a room with more than 70 school counselors from across Chester County, PA.
Applying Clinical Skills with Newcomer Students: Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Interventions
We talked about the migratory journey, the systems these students navigate before their first day of school, and what actually helps, not models built for someone else's experience, but care rooted in language, culture, and community.
Presented by Paulina Sierra, María Padrón and Romelia Guerrero.
Grateful for every counselor in that room who showed up with open hearts and a commitment to their newcomer students. 💛
