Community impact is made possible through strong partnerships, and we're proud to recognize W.W. Smith Charitable Trust for their continued support of our Mission, Market & Meals program. 💙

Their funding helps us provide critical resources that address food insecurity across our community, including our Food Pantry, nutrition education programming, and Cook-Off meal preparation and delivery services for participants at four local senior centers.

Through their generosity, individuals and families have greater access to nutritious food, practical wellness education, and meals that support the health and well-being of older adults. Housing stability is an important foundation for individuals and families, and you don't have to wait until you're experiencing homelessness to seek support.

ECS Philly's Housing team helps connect Philadelphia residents with resources and support that can include:

💙 Guidance from housing specialists
🏠 Help navigating available city housing resources
💵 Rental, deposit, and utility assistance for eligible participants
🔑 Rapid Re-Housing support for families referred through the City
📋 Help exploring options if you're behind on rent or facing eviction

From the kitchen to the table, our campers cooked up confidence, creativity, and teamwork this summer. Through hands-on cooking activities, they learned valuable kitchen skills, tried new foods, and enjoyed plenty of delicious moments along the way.

We're proud of all they accomplished and the memories they created during summer camp!

One more look at an incredible day. 💙 

From the moment families arrived, Gear Up for School was filled with excitement, connection, and plenty of smiles. 

Students picked out backpacks and school supplies for the year ahead, families connected with community resources, and volunteers and partners came together to make the day possible.

Summer camp may be over, but we couldn't close out the season without celebrating the people who made it possible. 💙

Throughout the summer, our Out-of-School Time (OST) Summer Camp staff created a safe, supportive, and fun environment where young people could learn, explore, build friendships, and make memories.

Behind every activity, field trip, new experience, and smiling face was a team showing up each day with energy, creativity, patience, and care.

Gear Up for School is what community partnership looks like in action.

This year, 285 people attended Gear Up for School, bringing families, volunteers, partners, and the ECS Philly community together to help students prepare for the school year ahead.

Together, we:

🎒 Distributed 221 backpacks filled with school supplies
👥 285 attendees
💙 Engaged 25 volunteers
🤝 Partnered with 5 community resource organizations

These numbers represent more than a successful event. They represent students heading into the classroom with the supplies they need, families connecting with resources, and volunteers and partners investing their time in Philadelphia communities.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, partnered with us, and helped make Gear Up for School possible. A special thank you to our partners at Vetri Community Partnership , Eddie's House , and Philadelphia Works for their support and presence at this year's event. We also extend our gratitude to the ECS Inclusion & Advocacy Department and Mindset for being in the building to recruit youth and distribute civic engagement packages.

Thank you for making Gear Up for School a success!

What a day! From families arriving to students picking out their backpacks and supplies, Gear Up for School was filled with smiles, excitement, and plenty of back-to-school energy.

Thanks to our incredible donors, partners, volunteers, and supporters, students are heading into the new school year with the tools they need to feel prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

Every backpack represented more than school supplies. It represented opportunity and a community coming together to support Philadelphia children and families.
