We’re opening our doors at BOK Open Studios!

Tomorrow night, stop by Comunidad Garces during BOK Open Studios to learn more about our work and meet some of the incredible people who make our community what it is.

Our community members will be sharing pieces of their cultures, talents, and traditions with all of us through food, art, music, and more. Come say hello, experience what they’ve created, and learn more about how Comunidad Garces works alongside Philadelphia’s immigrant communities to build connection, opportunity, and belonging.

Comunidad Garces supports immigrant families across our region. We offer English classes, free health care through our Community Health Days, and connections to the resources that help families put down roots.

We love our immigrant community. They are an important part of the fabric that makes Philadelphia such a wonderful city.

At Comunidad Garces, we are committed to creating a welcoming community where immigrants can find support, opportunity, and the resources they need to thrive. For us, that means showing up every day and helping build a stronger, healthier Philadelphia for everyone.

For 14 years, immigrants from 26 countries, speaking 12 languages, have turned to us for English classes, healthcare, dental care, and workforce training. Our new name, Comunidad Garces, reflects the community we have grown to serve and the work we continue to do together.

Recently, two men from Algeria walked through our doors at Bok. They spoke Arabic, and they had come to sign up for English classes. They found a place ready to welcome them. No insurance required. No questions about background or status.

That's the promise behind our new name, and we need your help to keep it. To sustain the people, programs and spaces that make this work possible, we're raising $10,000 by October 6.

We’ve quietly had something in the works for months that we are excited to share today. The Garces Foundation is now Comunidad Garces.

Comunidad in Spanish means community. It is the word our students and patients have used for this place for years. Today we made it official. Our new name honors the origins of this organization while also speaking to the essence of who we are at our core: an open door for all immigrants.
