Would you like to be part of someone’s back-to-school story? 🎒💙🧡

A gift to the Garces Foundation helps make IDIOMA classes, learning materials, digital literacy resources, and educational support available to our students throughout the year.

Whether they’re learning English, building digital skills, or working toward a GED, our students remind us that there is no age limit on learning something new.

We’re very excited to share that our Community Health Day service is expanding!

On September 19, we’ll be at our new space at Laurel Dental in West Grove, bringing our services to even more members of our community.

A special thank you to Mary Jo and the team at -Dental-of-West-Grove for partnering with us! Mary Jo is a former volunteer with the Garces Foundation Community Health Day and now has a practice of her own. We’re so excited to welcome her back in a new way and continue growing this important work together.

If you are a healthcare provider and would like to volunteer at our Community Health Day event, please visit our website to submit your volunteer application: www.garcesfoundation.org/volunteer

We’ll see you in West Grove on September 19! ✨

Thank you to Carlos Quezada, who was among our organization’s very first volunteers nearly a decade ago. This summer, Carlos returned to serve as an ESL teacher, sharing his creativity, compassion, and commitment with our adult learners. Volunteers like Carlos remind us that support for our mission often comes full circle, with people returning over the years to invest in the strength, resilience, and potential of our immigrant community.

Stitch by stitch, community grows. 🧶❤️

Our summertime community-led crochet group is more than a place to learn a new skill—it’s a space where families come together to share traditions, build friendships, and support one another across generations.

Each week we gather to create with our hands while strengthening the connections that help our community thrive. From first stitches to finished projects, every session is filled with laughter, learning, and the joy of creating something together.

At the Garces Foundation, we believe that belonging begins with opportunities to connect. Thank you to the community members who make this group possible by sharing their time, talent, and love with others. ❤️

Yesterday, our amazing case manager, Olivia Ponce, was invited to present at the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia about educational opportunities available to our community through the Garces Foundation.

As our full-time Case Manager and the second graduate of the Garces Foundation's GED program, Olivia shared her own journey to earning a Pennsylvania GED diploma and how that experience inspires her work supporting others every day.

Through our GED in Spanish program, students receive individualized, one-on-one instructional support to help them prepare for the exam, overcome obstacles, and achieve a milestone that can open new doors for themselves and their families. Students who earn their Pennsylvania GED diploma may qualify for full scholarships to attend Community College of Philadelphia, creating an affordable pathway to higher education, career advancement, and long-term economic stability.

We're grateful to the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia for creating space to connect with families and share the educational opportunities available in our community, and we're grateful to Olivia for standing before the audience as a powerful example of what's possible.

Interested in earning your GED in Spanish? We'd love to help you take the next step. Visit our website www.garcesfoundation.org/idioma or write us on WhatsApp 267-648-1398 to learn more.

Thanks to you, opportunity, health, and hope is reaching more members of Philadelphia's immigrant community every day.

💙 IDIOMA provides English, GED, digital literacy, and workforce education that supports adult learners in building confidence and pursuing new opportunities.
🩺 Community Health Day connects uninsured neighbors with free medical, dental, vision, and preventive care in partnership with an incredible network of volunteers and healthcare providers.

😁 Sonrisa restores smiles through comprehensive dental care, helping patients improve their health, confidence, and quality of life.

None of this happens alone. Every class taught, every appointment provided, and every smile restored is made possible by the generosity of our donors, volunteers, community partners, and supporters.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for investing in the strength, resilience, and potential of Philadelphia's immigrant community. Together, we're building a healthier, more connected, and more welcoming city.

Welcome to the Summer Session of IDIOMA! ☀️📚

Every new session marks the beginning of new opportunities—not just to learn English, earn a GED, or build digital skills, but to create pathways toward greater economic stability.

At the Garces Foundation, we believe workforce development is about more than preparing someone for a job. It's about empowering immigrant workers to strengthen their language skills, pursue career advancement, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families through education, support services, and meaningful community connections.
That's exactly what begins in our classrooms each week.

To our students: thank you for showing up with determination, courage, and a commitment to your goals.

To our teachers, volunteers, partners, and donors: thank you for making these opportunities possible.

Together, we're building a stronger workforce, stronger families, and a stronger Philadelphia.
We're excited to learn, grow, and succeed together this summer. 💙
