Meraki Animal Sanctuary Located in Northeast Philly. We rescue cats and kittens and also help with TNR. We help bunnies too! So rescuing animals is something I do in my free time.

My name is Kim Criniti my dream is to open Meraki Animal Sanctuary to rescue homeless, abused, and unwanted cats, dogs, and rabbits. I would also rescue animals from kill shelters that are on the list to be euthanized so that they have more time to be adopted. I am currently a kindergarten teacher at a school in Philadelphia. My plan for the sanctuary is to buy a few acres of land. I would live on

the land as well so that I am always available for the animals. The sanctuary will first house cats, then as we grow, dogs and rabbits. Each species will have their own living quarters. There will be no cages in the sanctuary. All the animals will live together (with their species) in a home environment so that they are happy and at ease. As we grow, there will be an office and separate living quarters for sick animals. Currently, I am thinking of using shipping containers as the foundation for the buildings. The sanctuary will be set up as a non-profit and will rely on donations to survive. Currently, I rescue mainly cats and kittens off of the streets of Philadelphia. I take them in, have them vetted, and find good homes for them. I also trap community cats and have them fixed to stop overproducing. In almost two years, I have rescued over 300 cats and kittens. I can only continue with your help!

This is Dinky and he came into ACCT on Thursday. Completely constipated. They suspected possible dwarfism. They gave him an e***a and lactulose. He is trying to p**p, but it’s basically just pooling at his bottom. It’s a very thick consistency and not fully coming out.

We are at the vet now getting X-rays and bloodwork done. They are also thinking dwarfism and possible hypothyroidism instead of hyperthyroidism. He is going to need e***as, medicine, special food, and lots of butt washing. As you can see in the X-ray picture, he is completely full of p**p and having a hard time passing it. But, he is so so so amazingly good. Like perfect angel baby.

Friends, I think I am going to need your help with this little guy. He is proving to be expensive already. We already spent almost $900 just for the Xray, bloodwork, and enama. The vet wants to do further testing for congenital hypothyroidism which would be around $400 and it can really help us determine what to do next for this little guy. Then he might need to get special food for him for now as well.

We just spent around $800 on Fireball. We are waiting for a call to see how much money Snowball needs. Just put the money out for Dinky. And, I can’t touch the money set aside for Krackle’s dental at the end of the month.

If you can help with this extra $400 expense, we would be very appreciative. They are even sending it out somewhere else to test so it would be less expensive!

So I was going to pick up Snowball after school yesterday. During school, I saw Maddie posted - a 17 year old cat in possible renal disease. I emailed right away to tag him. He will be going to the vet soon to see exactly what he may need to feel better or keep him comfortable.

I don’t believe anyone pledged for Maddie since he was just posted yesterday, but I will keep everyone updated on his needs and what the vet suggests and then we can go from there.

If he’s hospice, then he has a safe place to pass when he’s ready 🖤

We pulled Snowball!

My foster Priscilla sent me his picture right after we pulled Fireball because Fire/Snow, you get it.

Then, ACCT actually emailed me and asked if I would pull him- and they never really email me personally to pull cats. It was his last night, after being extended- so I just couldn’t say no, knowing that it might be my fault if he didn’t make it.

Luckily, a foster stepped up as well- and even better, it’s a vet tech, who actually knows about diabetes!

Snowball will be going to the vet tomorrow to get some more testing done and to hopefully start him on insulin.

The first picture is from right now after I got home from school. The last 2 are from last night. So you can see just his much improving he is doing - last night I rubbed his head and ears with coconut oil because his head has such a thick layer of crust under his fur. After letting the coconut oil soak it a bit, I softly brushed it with a flea comb. This is the results !

SHOTS UP! 🥃🔥 WE PULLED FIREBALL!

My foster Priscilla and I have been keeping track of this cutie for the past couple of days. We were finally able to work it out and thanks to a transport driver, Fireball was safely dropped off at Priscilla’s house about an hour ago! Her youngest daughter is already in love with him and feeding him lots of treats.

We will be taking Fireball to the vet this week to do some extra testing to see exactly what his medical needs are. But for now, he’s safe 🧡

Let me set the scene for you: it’s Saturday afternoon. I have to go babysit in 2 hours. I’m taking my Saturday afternoon nap. I magically wake up before my alarm- check my phone for the time, but instead, I see a message from Kolony Kats. They just grabbed this sick baby and had to be at work.
“Ok, I’ll meet you at acct in 15.”

Say hello to our little crusty crab 🦀that’s his name until he becomes beautiful and then we will think of something better 😂 I think it’s a boy, but he literally is crusty and dirty all over his body, including his undropped baby balls- so I’ll report back once he can have a bath.

We went to the vet today because yesterday he couldn’t open his eyes. Luckily, this morning, he opened one eye and by the time we got to the vet, he had two beautiful blue eyes.

We already gave him revolution for his skin yesterday. The vet has started him on antibiotics, eye meds just incase, and steroids for some extra help in getting better. His poor body is absolutely covered and I’m so glad he is on the road to recovery!

We could use some help with kitten food, litter, and puppy pads if you can !

We could use some help with supplies- we always always need litter because these cats do nothing but 💩. We have been testing out Iams lately to see if they like it and if it helped any with some diarrhea issues and so far so good! As you know, M***a prefers her puppy pads and tiki mousse (and possum enjoys her leftovers). Krackle literally eats anything and now comes running when he hears food coming ♥️

**FRIENDLY REMINDER DURING KITTEN SEASON**

Not all babies are abandoned. Please please PLEASE stop taking every litter of kittens thinking that you are helping. It honestly makes the situation worst. MOMS DESERVE TO BE RESCUED TOO!! If you remove the babies, you lose the chance to trap mom and get her fixed. Taking babies without mom only keeps the revolving door going.

If babies are healthy, quiet, safe- LEAVE THEM. Watch for mom to come back- she needs to eat too. Then you can at least use babies as bait to trap mom if she is feral.

If babies are visibly sick, meowing for long periods of time, in any danger: then it’s more appropriate for you to move them. But you should STILL make an effort to find mom.

Taking babies without their mom does not solve any problems !! PLEASE SHARE THIS
