Pennsylvania state employees and retirees, this is an opportunity to make a difference! 💙

Northern Children’s Services has been vetted and approved as a participating charity in the 2026 Pennsylvania State Employees Combined Appeal (PA SECA).

From September 1 through October 24, 2026, eligible Pennsylvania state employees and retired state employees can designate Northern as the charity they would like to support through the campaign.

🎃👻 Join us for a fa-BOO-lous Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 23 from 4–6 PM at Northern Children’s Services (back entrance off Righter Street)!

There are two ways to join the fun:

🚗 Decorate a trunk: We’re looking for 15 cars to participate. Decorate your trunk, dress up, bring some candy, and help create a festive experience for children and families in our community.

🍬 Come celebrate: Families and community members are welcome to stop by and enjoy music, candy, costumes, pumpkin decorating, and Halloween fun! No registration is required to attend.

On September 19, we were thrilled to welcome Villanova University’s "Nothing But Treble" a ca****la group to Northern as part of the Villanova Day of Service! 💙🎶

For the second year in a row, this talented group spent the day lending a hand across campus—pulling weeds in our vegetable garden, refreshing several office spaces with a fresh coat of paint, and even singing while they worked! 🌿🎨🎤

We’re especially grateful that this partnership continues beyond one day of service. Nothing But Treble is planning a return to Northern in December for a special sing-along with residents and staff, and we’re also looking forward to bringing a group of youth to see them perform at Villanova in November. ✨

What happens when we lead with curiosity instead of assumptions? 💭💙

Our team recently came together for an all-staff training on Relationship-Led Communication, led by The Human Solidarity Project: Healing Division From the Inside Out.

The session gave staff an opportunity to explore practical ways to communicate more effectively, navigate differences and misunderstandings, and strengthen relationships across roles and teams at Northern.

From thoughtful conversations to new perspectives, we’re continuing to learn how the way we communicate can help create a stronger, more connected workplace.

🥫 Today is Walk-In Wednesday! 🍂

Looking for food pantry resources? Today, September 23, from 10 AM to 2 PM, Northern’s Food Pantry is open for walk-in visits.

Our Fall Food Pantry schedule includes select Wednesdays through November for walk-in service. On all other weekdays, including Wednesdays that are not designated Walk-In Wednesdays, appointments are required and can be scheduled between 9 AM and 3 PM. Appointments are subject to food availability.
