When is the right time to start thinking about senior living?

It's one of the most common questions we hear from older adults and their families, and it's the focus of Smart Senior Daily's new column, “Ask Dr. McKinley,” featuring Simpson President and CEO, Dr. Carol McKinley.

In this first article, she shares some signs that it may be time to explore options and explains why planning ahead can lead to better choices and greater peace of mind.

Big ideas about the future of senior living took center stage in Nashville at the Senior Living Executive Conference.

Simpson President and CEO Dr. Carol McKinley joined George Karakatsanis from Amba for a session exploring how predictive, privacy-preserving AI technology is helping support caregivers and improve resident outcomes in real-world settings.

The session highlighted Simpson’s partnership with Amba and explored how technology designed around caregiver workflows can lead to stronger adoption, faster identification of health changes, reduced falls, and more meaningful family engagement.

Dr. McKinley also participated in the panel discussion, “The Senior Living Partner Landscape” alongside industry leaders to discuss the future of innovation in senior living.

Throughout the week, industry leaders emphasized a shared focus on building stronger partnerships and using thoughtful innovation to better support caregivers, residents and families.

The conversations happening in Harrisburg right now will shape the future of aging services across Pennsylvania.

Recently, Simpson President and CEO Carol McKinley, who serves as Chair of the LeadingAge PA Political Action Committee (PAC), spoke about why strong advocacy for older adults, aging services providers, and the communities they serve matters during this important election year. Medicaid, staffing ratios, affordable housing needs, and workforce challenges all remain at the center of the conversation.

The LeadingAge PA Political Action Committee (PAC) was created to help nonprofit aging services providers advocate for policies that support older adults and strengthen the organizations serving them. The PAC supports candidates based on their commitment to the aging services field, regardless of political affiliation.

Want to help move these conversations forward? Supporting the PAC is one way to help ensure aging services providers and older adults continue to have a strong voice in Harrisburg.
