The main play yard painting is done and 18 new trees were planted, all within the last 6 weeks! What a great collaboration between school staff, parents and some local volunteers to make this happen! There’s more cool projects we’re working on so reach out to [email protected] to learn how to get involved!

It's been a big week for us! Thank you for the volunteers who came out to help paint the school yard (earlier this week) and to Villanova University's Filipino American Society for helping us to clear weeds and plant new trees (yesterday)! The transformation of this space over the last couple of years--including this week--has been nothing short of amazing!

Our Story

In 2008, a group of parents, staff, students, and community members, formed the “Green Committee” as part of Cook’s Home and School Association, seeking to undertake a greening initiative in the school. In 2009 we became a 501(c)(3) non-profit and changed our name to The Wissahickon Sustainability Council. We work to:

· support class trips/guest speakers

· cultivate resources that enhance sustainability and sustainability education

· beautify the school grounds through regular cleanups and service days
