BIG NEWS for genetic counseling in Pennsylvania! 🎉
We are thrilled to share that SB 535 and SB 536 passed the Pennsylvania Senate unanimously! These bills would allow licensed genetic counselors in Pennsylvania to order genetic testing. This is a major step forward for our profession and the patients we serve.
But we’re not across the finish line yet.
The bills must now be considered and passed by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives before the current legislative session ends. With only a few weeks remaining, time is critical. If the bills do not pass the House this session, the legislative process will reset and they will need to be reintroduced and passed by both chambers again.

You can find your PA House Representative at https://www.palegis.us/find-my-legislator. Please reach out and encourage them to support and prioritize SB 535 and SB 536 as soon as possible. Even better iff you have a personal or professional connection with a member of the Pennsylvania House.
