About last night… The TriCity Rotary Clubs, which consists of the Petersburg Breakfast and Lunch Clubs and its Impact Clubs along with Colonial Heights Rotary Club met at Maria's at Old Town 21 Ristorante Italiano for our annual Governor’s Dinner. This year’s District Governor is SuAnne Hardee Bryant and she outlined her goals for this year and stressed the importance of new member and community engagement!
It was great food and a wonderful time of fellowship!

Columbia Gas employee and club member, Mary Brandon invited Operations Center Manager, Cedric Goodman to speak to us about the Columbia Gas mission, their work to create community connections in Petersburg and across Virginia, as well as their available energy efficiency programs and energy assistance programs for customers who may need financial assistance with their utilities.

We appreciate having them join us for breakfast and they are welcome anytime!

Our guest today was Joseph Sedivy, an RN as well as the Development Coordinator for Friends of Barnabas, based in Midlothian and serving the healthcare and education needs of rural Honduras. They have enjoyed partnerships with Rotary at the club, district and international levels over the last 25 years - and in fact, they just completed their most recent Rotary International grant in January with exciting, life-changing results!

The mission of Friends of Barnabas is to empower families in Honduras through healthcare and education.

We are stories of how this organization supports the three pillars of their mission statement- to Heal, to educate, and to empower!
Thank you Joseph for visiting this morning and you have given us much to ponder and consider!

Petersburg’s Impact Rotary Club presented a check for $1779 to Natasha Johnson, director of Program Operations of Communities in Schools today at Wabi Sabi’s. The club and DJ sold Gumbo to raise money for Petersburg’s public schools!
From left to right -
David “DJ” Payne owner of Wabi Sabi’s donated his time and ingredients as an in-kind donation and Impact members chopped vegetables and helped make gumbo to sell!
Natasha Jackson will use the funds to help families with meals during the holidays!
Jennifer Terwilliger, Director of the Impact Club hopes this fundraiser will be an annual fundraiser for the community and Ronda Baer, President of the Petersburg Breakfast and Impact Rotary Clubs was very impressed with their efforts!

True story-
The first time our new club President, Ronda Baer, after having been sworn in as President was asked to close the club meeting with the ringing of the bell- she picked it up and tried to ring it- her first mistake! The ring is sounded by a gavel strike against the side of the bell.
Long time member, Bob Walker told her that she would need another two weeks of training!
This tradition still stands - our meetings begin and end with the ringing of the bell!
It calls us together and binds our hearts for service to each other and to our community!

Rotary Picnic with Rotarians of Area 6 and 7 and their guests, with Community Partners was a huge success! There was plenty of Food, Fun and Fellowship, and line dancing and some Salsa!

We were honored by the presence of members from our District Leadership, including DG SuAnne, DGE Bill Mulvihill, PDG Jim Bynum, and PDG Chuck Arnason. Special Thanks to the Hollywood Steppers for the wonderful dance demonstrations, and the new recruits of the Petersburg Bureau of Police who became our grill masters 😁, providing perfectly cooked burgers, brats, and hotdogs, and to Captain Carol Adams of the Petersburg Bureau of Police who accompanied them!
Lots of fun was had by all ages!
