Lending Helping Hands Board Members and volunteers were invited to attend The Topping Ceremony at Live Casino Virginia.

We are about to be officially recognized by Live Casino Virginia as the non-profit for the third Quarter of 2026 for the Change Program. All I have been told since arriving is that this is the largest check they have donated as of today under the Change Program. We were selected for the months of July, August and September.

We are honored and grateful to be chosen.

Thankful that 4 additional volunteers showed up on yesterday. We were only expecting 1 additional volunteer. They all came ready to serve our seniors. You would have thought they had worked together before.

Lending Helping Hands were able to add 4 sliced Bors Head Turkey Breast to the menu as an additional meat option.

We are also thankful that Debra Goodwyn sent her son with a donation of medical equipment and a box of t-shirts to she made to the Carriage House. The medical equipment is already blessing someone. The t-shirts will be distributed on our next visit.

We are thankful for the $5,000.00 Feedmore Grant that allows us to feed the Carriage House residents.

Woke up this morning and RECEIVED this IMPORTANT UPDATE. I am a PROUD and dedicated community partner and Class of 85 Alumni of Petersburg Public School.

I was asked to share this Phenomenal news. I am sure that this is going to shut up alot of people that have spoken negatively on social media about the School Board without stating specific names.

Congratulations.....
Petersburg City Public Schools on their 2025–2026 accreditation status! We celebrate our four Fully Accredited schools and recognize the continued efforts of our two Conditionally Accredited schools.

This progress is significant for our division. Over the last two years, we have been intentional about building the structures that support teaching, learning, and overall school improvement. Our work includes:

• Continuing to implement a division-wide instructional framework that guides teaching and learning in every classroom.

• Adopting and implementing high-quality instructional materials aligned with Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOLs), along with focused professional learning for teachers and school leaders.

• Enhancing our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum with additional levels of support for students.

• Strengthening accountability and support to reduce chronic absenteeism.

• Increasing our focus on recruiting and retaining fully licensed teachers while supporting alternative licensure pathways for other teachers.

• Building stronger family and community engagement through targeted outreach, access to information, and wraparound services.

Thank you to our students, teachers, staff, school leaders, families, and community partners for your dedication. We celebrate this progress while continuing the work to help every student succeed.

Together, we continue moving Petersburg forward!
