Mission Gate Prison Ministry's goals are regeneration, rehabilitation and reintegration. Turning lives from crime to Christ.

Mission Gate is a residential program for men and women fresh out of prison or rehabilitation. We provide clean and safe housing, along with initial food supply, clothing, identification, hygiene items, and bedding. We help everyone get full time employment and join local chirches.

At Mission Gate Ministry, we are blessed beyond measure by the leadership, love, and unwavering dedication of our Executive Director, Trish Mathes.

Recently, our HR Program Director and Aftercare Assistant, Joyce Fields, had the honor of presenting Trish with an award recognizing her more than 40 years of faithful service, counseling, and teaching. Trish truly is the heart of Mission Gate.

Her hands-on devotion is evident every single day. She continues to answer office phones, visit prisons and community supervision centers, and check in daily with site leaders to see how residents are doing and how she can support them. Through her counseling and staff mentorship, Trish extends profound grace and mercy. She uses God’s Word to help individuals move past trauma and former mistakes, guiding them toward the purposeful life God has planned for them.

Hundreds of thousands of lives have been transformed through this ministry and through Trish’s faithful teaching. As Mission Gate looks to the future, faces may change, but the heart of this ministry will always remain rooted in Trish’s love for Jesus and for every person who walks through our doors.

What a blessing! 🙌

A few weeks ago, we welcomed Telugu Christian Fellowship to our Fort Good Shepherd home for an afternoon of fellowship, worship and prayer.

They didn’t stop there. Dr. Ethakoti and Dr. Erkers, both optometrists, gave free eye exams and prescriptions to 14 residents and 4 staff members. Then they partnered with the community to provide prescription glasses for everyone!

Talk about helping others see clearly. 👓 Truly, our cup runneth over.

We never know how the Lord will use us. But when He calls, we’re ready to go.

Transformation is possible.

From a Christian kid with praying parents, to losing his way and serving time in jail, Lex’s journey is a powerful reminder of God’s grace and redeeming love. Through Jesus Christ and his time at Mission Gate, Lex completely rebuilt his life.

Today, he is thriving as the Operations Manager at Pasta House! 🍝

Inspiring testimonies at Septemberfest 2026!

It’s always a night of celebration and hope as we hear the stories of what the Lord has done through Mission Gate to rebuild lives and families.

Listen to 2 clips below:
First, James Fields, who went from being a drug dealer to Men’s Director at Fort Good Sheperd and a college graduate!
Second, Lex, a good Christian kid who went astray and ended up in prison. He rebuilt his life and is currently employed as the Operations Manager at Pasta House. So inspiring!

And this year, we had an extra reason to celebrate! Through God’s provision and the generosity of so many, the needed funds came in to complete Shepherd’s Inn, the new men’s dorm in Cuba, Missouri.

I’m especially grateful for Kevin’s role in overseeing this project through to completion. It was a joy to celebrate this milestone and the many lives that will be impacted through Shepherd’s Inn. God is faithful!!🙏
