An Incredible Honor: 40 Years of Restoration Featured on the Encounter Show

For nearly four decades, Mission Gate Ministry has stepped into the darkest places to bring hope, structure, and lifelong restoration. We are deeply honored to share that our Co-Founder and Executive Aftercare Director, Trish Mathes, was recently invited to sit down with pioneering host Judy Redlich on KSIV’s acclaimed Encounter Show.

In this powerful interview, Trish pulls back the curtain on the mission, vision, and rich history of our in-prison ministry and residential aftercare programs here in the St. Louis area.

The Power of Shared Mission
This conversation was truly special because of the incredible woman behind the microphone. Host Judy Redlich has spent her life blazing trails in St. Louis media. As a journalist, psychotherapist, and Certified Christian Life Coach, Judy has broken barriers across television and radio for over twenty years. Her life work has been centered on a single thread: helping people tell their stories and discover their highest potential.

When Judy’s passion for advocacy met Trish’s 40-year heart for prison aftercare, the result was a deeply moving conversation about faith, grit, and true life transformation.

Whether you have been a supporter of Mission Gate for decades or are just learning about our residential programs for men, women, and children, this broadcast will give you a profound look at the lives being changed right in your backyard.

How to Listen:
The Encounter Show airs every Tuesday on the Bott Radio Network (St. Louis local stations 91.5 FM, 1320 AM, and 95.9 FM).

You can stream Trish’s full feature episode anytime, anywhere. Check the first comment below for the direct links to the full interview and the radio network.

“This is the best day of my life, Dad!”

There is nothing quite like the restoration of a father’s role. Eric Vandiver, our Fort Good Shepherd Program Coordinator, recently spent spring break with his son, Kandon. Together, they prayed, read the Word, and practiced what it means to have a servant’s heart.

We are so excited for Eric and his family as they prepare to move into their own place and grow together under one household again—healthy, whole, and serving the Lord.

"I had no idea how the enemy would attack... I had truly lost my sense of direction."

Sara was a woman of faith, but after the loss of her father and her son’s cancer diagnosis, she found herself numbing the pain in ways she never expected. But our God is a God of second chances. 🕊️

Through Mission Gate, Sara found the tools to break free from self-sabotage and rebuild the bonds of her family. Today, she isn't just a survivor—she is a daughter of the Most-High King, a mother, and a grandmother watching her son live cancer-free. Praise God!

Three GODincidences in one day!! Kevin took me down to see Shepherd’s Inn, the new 19 unit dorm being built on higher ground in Cuba, MO as part of Mission Gate. It’ll replace the cabins that got flooded last spring and add several more beds for men getting a second chance.

Anyway, the semi truck with the flooring and the Mission Gate guys both got there early. Kevin showed up just in time to direct them where to put the 8400 lbs of flooring. That’s 210 boxes at 40 lbs each or 70 boxes on each floor. The 10 Mission Gate guys knocked this out in 15 minutes. Teamwork really does make the dream work.

Then just before we left, the flooring installer shows up a day early, so Kevin could walk the project with him and not have to make the three hour round-trip again tomorrow.

The entire project has really had God’s hand of blessing on it. Mission Gate did not start with all the money needed, yet monetary donations have come in steadily so there’s been no slow down in construction. All the subcontractors have gone above and beyond, most are Christians and the build has just gone smoothly. Thank you, Lord! —-Amy O’Brien, Advisory Council Member
