๐Ÿ“Š Trend Tuesday

From Overdose Awareness to Su***de Prevention ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™

Yesterday, we recognized International Overdose Awareness Day.

Today begins Su***de Prevention Month.

Two observances. Two complex public health challenges. And an important reminder that our prevention efforts don't always fit neatly into separate boxes.

Substance use and su***de can share risk and protective factors. Mental health, trauma, isolation, access to care, stigma, connectedness, coping skills, and supportive relationships can all be part of the bigger picture.

Every day, we have opportunities to connect our prevention efforts rather than silo them.

๐Ÿค Strengthen connection and belonging.
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Normalize conversations about mental health and substance use.
๐Ÿ’œ Reduce stigma around asking for help.
๐Ÿง  Build coping and resilience skills.
๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Create environments that support health and well-being.
๐Ÿ”— Make it easier for people to connect with support when they need it.

As we move from one awareness observance into another, maybe the trend worth watching isn't another new substance or statistic.

Maybe it's our growing understanding that prevention is connected.
