Families NEED support this year. 🎁

On December 9 and 10, our Holiday Shop opens. Girls and their families pick out free gifts for the people they love, then wrap them and hand them over themselves.
We need your help to fill the tables.

I spent the day at the Unstoppable ADHD Creator Summit with Paris Hilton and I’m still thinking about it.
I have ADHD. I don’t say that out loud very often. For a long time it felt like something to manage quietly and not bring up. So sitting in a room where everyone just talked about it, openly and without being embarrassed, meant more to me than I expected.
Hearing Paris talk about her own ADHD was a big part of that. So were the panels, the people I met, and honestly the fact that there was a whole wall that said “ADHD is my superpower” and I got to paint on it.
ADHD isn’t one thing. It doesn’t look the same for everyone, and a lot of people (especially girls) go a long time without knowing they have it. The more we talk about it, the easier it gets for the next person to figure out what’s going on with their own brain and get support.
So this is me talking about it.

We need to talk. 💚

After the Eaton Fire, my daughter Avery, then 14, asked for help getting girls who lost their homes the things they needed to feel like themselves again. That's how Altadena Girls started.

In a disaster, teen girls get missed. 1 in 3 develops a mental health condition. So we built a free place just for them: not home, not school, theirs.

Almost two years later, there's still a long way to go. Our girls are still healing, and we're doing our part so their families can focus on rebuilding.

$5.48 a day sponsors one girl for a whole year. I'm asking 10 people by October 31. Will you be one?

Last week we told you what membership means at Altadena Girls: a place that’s hers, free, with no explanation needed.

This week, we’re showing you what that looks like.

Every week, girls come to our expressive arts class. They paint, draw, create, or just sit quietly after a hard day. No pressure to perform, talk or share. The sharing happens safely and naturally.

That’s just one piece of what a year of membership gives a girl. We’ll share more each week. 💕

What does it mean to be a member of Altadena Girls?

It means having somewhere to go where you don’t have to explain yourself.

A place to make music, create something, finish your homework, find an outfit, eat a snack, talk to someone, or simply exist without being asked to become smaller.

It means walking through our doors and knowing this space belongs to you, too.

Membership at Altadena Girls is completely free, because access to community, creativity and belonging shouldn’t depend on what a family can afford.

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to share more about what one year of membership makes possible and the community that keeps it possible. 💗
