Day One Day One builds vibrant, healthy cities by advancing public health, empowering youth and igniting change.

Day One is a community-based nonprofit organization with a 30 year history of providing effective, high quality and culturally-sensitive public health education, intervention, policy development and environmental prevention efforts. Day One grew out of a collective vision of concerned community leaders in 1987. Their vision was spurred by the drug epidemic in Pasadena and Altadena, especially among youth and in the Northwest area. Since then the organization has become a leader in youth advocacy and community health in the San Gabriel Valley.

Did you know that synthetic turf surfaces can reach temperatures over 140°F on warm days? 🌡️
As the Pasadena City Council prepares to discuss the athletic fields at Villa Parke and Robinson Park tomorrow night, it’s important to understand how playing surfaces impact community health. From heat retention and skin abrasions to questions surrounding microplastics and chemical exposure (like PFAS), there are several environmental health factors to consider.

Let’s Walk, Talk, and Shape Pasadena’s Future!
Join us for a community walk and conversation to kick off the Pasadena Active Transportation Plan’s community engagement efforts.

Together, we’ll explore Pasadena’s streets and public spaces, talk about what’s working, identify challenges with walking, biking, rolling, and transit, and hear directly from YOU about ways to enhance our transportation network.
