Today is World No To***co Day! This yearly celebration brings to light the dangers of using to***co, the business practices of to***co companies, what the WHO is doing to fight the to***co epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.

Every year, more than 8 million people die from to***co use worldwide. In the U.S., nearly half a million people die prematurely of smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke annually. Every day, about 1,600 U.S. youth under 18 years smoke their first cigarette.

The Clean Air Sierra Madre Coalition attended Tuesday night’s Sierra Madre City Council meeting to speak during public comment regarding the benefits of a Smoke-Free Multi-Unit Housing (SF MUH) ordinance and to explore the city’s consideration for discussing a SF MUH policy in the near future.
