A great big welcome to Zachariah, managing partner of The Law Offices of Zachariah Wade, as he became an official member of the Rotary club of East Lake Sunrise this morning. Zachariah was inducted by our assistant area governor, Diane Sharp, and we really appreciate her taking time out of her day for our meeting. Zachariah is sure to be a fine addition to our club and we are so happy to have him with us.

Today’s meeting was lead by the deputy supervisor of elections, Dustin Chase. He talked to us about security at voting locations and the integrity of the election process. He also let us know that the Supervisor of Elections office is always looking for people who are interested in being trained to work at the polls. When I asked about whether mail in ballots took longer to process for a full accounting of votes, Dustin remarked that they count the ballots as soon as they come in and it really doesn’t take that much longer to tally up and identify the winner. November is coming, don’t forget to be registered and. ask for a mail in ballot if you need it or go directly to the polls to vote. It’s a right that many people and other countries still fight to possessed today.

Last Thursday morning, we had the extreme pleasure of welcoming the Pinellas County Clerk of Courts Ken Burke to our Rotary meeting. He spoke to us about protecting our information on public records and then discussed all of the things that the clerk of court and comptroller takes care of with the help of his amazing staff. As you can see from the picture below, Clerk Burke was named a 2026 outstanding government champion and we certainly agree. He goes the extra mile! Thank you, Ken for taking the time out of your busy day to come and talk to our club!
