Just in time for the holidays, we’re kicking off our Ape Walkway promotion to complete our walkway from the front entrance to the Great Apes building, making it easier for guests to traverse our terrain while commemorating our supporters! What a great gift for the person who has it all!?

How You Can Help Us Finish the Walkway?
* You can leave your mark on the Sanctuary by purchasing a custom engraved brick!
* Where to Order: Visit us in person or order online using the link below!
* Customization: Each brick includes up to 3 lines of text.
* Personal or Business: Dedicate a brick to yourself, your family, a loved one, or represent your school, church, or local business or even honor your favorite SPS animal, past or present!
* Replica Bricks: The bricks ship directly to the Sanctuary for installation, but you can also order a replica brick shipped straight to your home!

Where Your Contribution Goes!

Proceeds will go directly toward completing our Ape Walkway. Any remaining funds raised beyond our goal will go directly to animal care and support of Sanctuary operations.

What’s a weekend without pictures of a cute monkey!!?? Meet Jackie O, our adorable Cinnamon Capuchin.

Jackie is petite but dont let her size fool you. She can lift things with her tail that weigh as much as she does.

Jackie really enjoys the attention of her neighbors AJ and Joey. A few of her favorite enrichment items are her ball, which she carries with her tail, and her pink swing. She really likes cooked potatoes, nuts and fruits and prefers to select her own pieces after careful consideration.

Fun Facts: Cinnamon Capuchins a/k/a white-fronted Capuchins are highly intelligent with advanced problem-solving abilities. The term cinnamon comes from the fact their fur ranges from a brown to cinnamon shade.

Magical Mondays!

There's nothing more magical than watching our residents enjoying their enrichment items.

Yuki, a Japanese Snow Macaque, is happily playing with her ball. She loves tossing it and chasing after it.

Macaques are naturally curious and agile and they enjoy manipulating objects.

A play ball provides sensory stimulation, physical activity, cognitive challenges and behavioral benefits.

Fun fact Friday: Meet Scotty the Hamadryas Baboon!

Hamadryas Baboon males have a pronounced silver-white mane and mantle which they develop around the age of 10. Scotty’s is very full and he loves to stroke it to keep it looking its best!

Scotty, who turned 34 this year, is a former pet and has been a resident of SPS since 2015.

One of our most popular small primates with guests, Scotty will converse with you in a low bark or grunt and can be seen basking in the breeze of his personal fan (with that fur flowing in the wind!) or perched high on his platform, where he overlooks the whole sanctuary.

Some of Scotty's favorite foods are corn on the cob, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers. During your next visit come chat with Scotty in the small primate area of the sanctuary!
