New case report with photos: A woman who had undergone LASIK 14 years earlier suffered a LASIK flap dislocation after being bitten by her pet bird. This case adds to the growing body of evidence that the LASIK flap can remain vulnerable to dislocation for life after surgery, even from relatively minor trauma.

Prospective LASIK patients: Please read this carefully.
LASIK surgeons all know that the public has become increasingly skeptical of LASIK. They've watched their LASIK volumes fall year after year. They have no one to blame but themselves for pushing such a harmful surgery on the public for nearly 3 decades. These days, everybody has heard about problems with LASIK, so people aren't falling for the hype. You'd think these surgeons would change course and return to the practice of medicine -- healing the sick -- but no, they're doubling down and promoting an even more dangerous surgery, EVO ICL implantation.
In this new article, a LASIK surgeon publicly acknowledged something the LASIK industry has spent decades downplaying: Laser ablation has a cumulative negative impact on:
• Corneal strength
• Corneal nerve architecture
• Ocular surface health (dry eye)
He admits that because of this growing understanding, many patients he would have treated with laser just a few years ago are now being steered toward EVO ICLs instead. Why? Because "avoiding corneal alteration may offer advantages for long-term ocular health". ”Once corneal tissue is permanently removed, it cannot be replaced." There is no “undo” button.
This is not an activist claim. This is a practicing LASIK surgeon writing in a major ophthalmology publication (Healio, August 2026).
It's a pattern with these surgeons -- When the problems with one technique or technology are exposed, they move on to the next harmful, unnecessary surgery.

Pathetic. They promise that you will "throw away your glasses" but make you sign a form consenting to possible permanent vision loss or need of a corneal transplant. Then, when it actually happens to you due to their negligence, they think they can hide behind that consent form. How are YOU (or your attorney) supposed to know that it was THEIR fault? Don't gamble with your only pair of eyes! Keep your glasses!
