✨LEAPIN' LYGRESS✨

Eva “Leapin’ Lygress” has been in the Puna/Hawai’i dance scene going back 15+ years. Since then, Eva has been DJ’ing all over, leapin’ around from dancefloor to dancefloor. You’ve probably seen a blur of Eva’s stripes somewhere on the dancefloor or on stage, dancing and grooving, usually with a huge smile. That’s why we’re excited for Eva to bring a special flavor of vibes to Kalani Ecstatic Dance infused with lots of diverse beats. ✨IMAGIKA OM✨

Imagika Om (Monika Mana) is one of Kalani Ecstatic Dance’s resident Musical Facilitators and council members. Monika is a professional musician, DJ, event producer, and “aural alchemist”. Her musical journeys often begin with beautiful and haunting live vocals. She often serves a unique blend of music she’s come across in her travels around the world, blending beats described as “exotic, erotic ta***ic temple trap, tribal primal percussion, mid-tempo heartbeat house, lush latina bruja beats, and ancient future fourth world sounds…”
While Monika plays sounds from many creators and from around the world, she’ll often add one or two of her own tracks from her album "Cosmic Sutras”. Her musical facilitation carefully guides us across a mystical journey of sounds and senses and into our bodies, culminating in an intense peak of sensuous and sexy bass powered beats. Then, finding release and resolution her facilitation carefully catches us as we come to rest and stillness.
She inspires a sense of peace and harmony. We love Monika’s grounded, kind, and clear presence… and the wisdom she brings to her interactions in the community.

We’re letting the trees dance ecstatically for us this weekend. Hurricane Lala had plans of her own. 🌧️🌴

While the rain and wind may slow down by tomorrow morning, power is likely to be out and we’ll still need time to assess any damages.

Leapin’ Lygress and all her wub cubs have no business being out in this storm. 🐯💗 Stay tucked in, stay safe, and take care of each other.

⚠️ DANCE PENDING ⛈️ WEATHER WATCH ⚠️

Due to Tropical Storm Lala, Kalani and the dance council will be keeping a close eye on the weather and determining whether conditions will be safe and suitable to host Ecstatic Dance this Sunday, August 16th.

We’ll post updates as we get closer, including any schedule changes or cancellations.

We hate to miss a dance, so if the weather allows us to safely make it happen, we’ll swing it! 🌧️🌴💃

Ecstatic Dance 25th Birthday Bash Weekend Celebration!!!

Kalani is honored to celebrate 25 years of Ecstatic Dance, a practice that has grown from its roots here at Kalani on Hawaiʻi Island into a worldwide movement of embodied expression, healing, and connection. For a quarter century, this community ritual has invited thousands of people to move beyond words, rediscover themselves through dance, and experience the profound joy of authentic presence.

Join us November 13–15th for a weekend honoring the past, present, and future of Ecstatic Dance. Together we’ll celebrate the facilitators, musicians, visionaries, and dancers who helped shape this living tradition into what it is today.

Throughout the weekend, you’ll enjoy daily Ecstatic Dances, contact improv, workshops, yoga and movement classes, sound baths, and panel discussions featuring both the original creators of Ecstatic Dance and current facilitators sharing stories, wisdom, and the evolution of this global movement. There will also be opportunities to connect with community, reflect on the legacy of the practice, and dance into its next chapter.

Whether you’ve been dancing for decades or are stepping onto the dance floor for the very first time, this anniversary celebration welcomes you exactly as you are.

Opulence (Andy Freeland) is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ calling Big Island home for many years, previously hosting Inspiral Lounge and the Audio Alchemy Retreats (now “Synthesis”). Andy is a practitioner of alchemy in his creative endeavors. His music and DJ sets reflect this, always infused with meaning, metaphor and intention. Andy is a father, Kalani’s Events and Experiences Coordinator, talented designer and writer as well as concrete mason amongst his many other talents. A “multipotentialite”, Andy excels where he places his focus. We love the masterfully crafted musical journeys Andy provides, always meticulously crafted.
