Inspired by the vision of a Western retreat center that she had while living in the Himalayas and the need to create a place for the reemergence of the sacred feminine, Lama Tsultrim Allione founded Tara Mandala in 1993.

Do we believe everything we think? Or is there something else?

Beneath the constant movement of thoughts, plans, worries, and distractions is a deeper awareness that has never been disturbed.

Skymind: The Radical Path of Open Awareness is an invitation to step out of the pace of modern life and rest in what Machig Labdrön called the natural state. Guided by Dorje Lopön Charlotte Rotterdam and Lopön Pieter Oosthuizen, you'll explore the simplicity of open awareness, supported by the beauty and spaciousness of Tara Mandala's sacred land.

What would it take to truly rest?

With deep sadness, we join the worldwide Buddhist community in mourning the passing of Robert A.F. Thurman

A renowned scholar, teacher, translator, and tireless advocate for Tibet, Bob helped bring the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism to countless people around the world. He was the co-founder and president of Tibet House US, New York.

A longtime friend of Lama Tsultrim Allione & Tara Mandala, he generously shared his teachings with our sangha, including appearances on Lama Live and in our Heart of Buddhism program last year.

Lama Tsultrim reflected, "This is a big loss to this world. He was a real Bodhisattva."

May his vast merit continue to benefit all beings.

Om Mani Padme Hum. 🙏

The week ahead is rich with sacred observances, each offering an opportunity to pause, practice, and reconnect with what truly matters.

On Sunday, June 14, we honor Dharmapala Day and the Parinirvana Anniversary of Mipham Rinpoche.

On Monday, June 15, the New Moon and Shakyamuni Buddha Day invite reflection, prayer, and the dedication of merit, while we also remember the Parinirvana Anniversary of Nyala Pema Dudul, the great Dzogchen master.

On June 16, the fifth Tibetan month begins, and we honor the Parinirvana Anniversary of Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa, one of Tibet's major tertöns.

Whether through meditation, mantra recitation, offerings, or quiet contemplation, may these days deepen wisdom, compassion, and connection to the lineage.

How do you feel called to mark the sacred days ahead?

06/12/2026

We invite you to learn Tröma's Practice of Severance at the place of its revelation. Hear the opening verses of the terma that arose spontaneously in the wisdom mind of Orgyen Khakhyab Lingpa.

Revealed at Tara Mandala to address the needs of these times, this retreat offers the blessings of the Tröma Nagmo empowerment and commentary, instruction in the Chöd instruments, and practice under the star-filled sky on the blessed Ekajati peak.

Join us at Tara Mandala for a remarkable retreat:

Some are called to the transformative journey of The Dakini Retreat. Others to the devotion and collective practice of White Dakini Drubchö. Families gather in July, lineage holders come together in August for Ösel Nyingtig, and Skymind invites a return to the simplicity of open awareness.
