Oxnard Monday Club

Oxnard Monday Club A meeting was in March of 1905, in the small village of Oxnard, to organize a literary club. A fifth Monday was provided for a social or miscellaneous meeting.

Brief History of the Oxnard Monday Club

Woman believing that in union there is strength and inspiration. It was first decided to limit the membership to twelve (charter members) and to study Greek History and Current Events. The first plans called for n

o election of officers but each member was to take her turn as leader and hostess in alphabetical order. In September 1905, new plans called for the club to meet on the first and third Mondays to study Greek History, and the second and fourth Mondays to learn Current Events. Upon voting to join the California Federation of Women's Clubs on November 13, 1905, it was necessary to elect the first officers. The Oxnard Monday Club affiliated with the Los Angeles District in 1907, and the Ventura Association in 1907, The General Federation of Woman's Clubs in 1951 when universal membership became effective. On April 23, 1907 the club chose the California Poppy as its flower, and green, gold and white as its colors. The Live Oak and Mocking Bird were later voted upon as Club symbols.

The Oxnard Monday Club proudly Sponsors to the Unified Sports Team.

The Special Olympics Unified Sports is a movement to promote inclusivity and involvement in communities. All people are welcomed and accepted, no matter their disability. It’s a wonderful community of people who are helping spread the word of inclusion! They strive to incorporate the general education student population as supporters and helpers. This promotes friendship between students with social delays and general education students and shows a positive environment.
Students practice 1-2 times per week for each unit in sports such as soccer, basketball, track & field, and kickball. We then compete against other Unified Sports teams within OUHSD and other schools within Ventura County .

Bowl For Kids' Sake is TOMORROW!

Now until June, BBSVC wants to inspire the youth in Ventura County to be mindful and active, while getting their move on!
