The 2026 Carole Dorothy Joyce Grant for Student Filmmakers is now open for submissions! 🎬

The recipient will receive $3000 as well as donated production services to help them complete the film which inlcude:

🎥 Three one-hour consultations with Carole Joyce
đź“Ł 20% off crowdfunding campaign services from Jenny Waldo
🎞️ 15% off expendables from Filmtools

Grant seeks films that are unique and that make a contribution to society.

It is open to short and feature-length narratives and documentaries budgeted at $50,000 or less. Applicants must be enrolled in a university, college, community college, extension course, or high school. Student filmmakers from any country may apply.

All applicants will also be offered a complimentary 15-minute consultation on their project and receive the crowdfunding section of Carole Dean’s How to Fund Your Film.

Charlie Griswold spoke those words to his mother, Betsy Murphy, two months before his death. Now, the documentary inspired by that promise has been named the winner of the Spring 2026 Roy W. Dean Grant.

In BODIES OF WATER, Betsy travels to India to release Charlie’s ashes into the sacred Ganges River. Her personal journey connects the loss of her son to fentanyl with larger questions about healing, consciousness, and our responsibility to protect every body of water.

Betsy will receive $3,500 and donated filmmaking services to help move the documentary forward.

The Spring 2026 Roy W. Dean Grant finalists have been selected!

Filmmakers from around the world submitted projects for consideration, and 20 have made it to the finalist round.

Among them are documentary features, narrative films, shorts, and web series—all competing for a $3,500 cash grant plus donated production services and equipment from generous film industry supporters.
