No Actual Drop-off: Water isn't falling into a giant hole. The ocean floor here is relatively flat before sloping down into the deeper ocean basin.
Driven by Sand & Silt: Strong ocean currents push sand and silt deposits off the shallow coastal shelf into the deeper abyssal plain (~4,000 meters deep).
Color Contrast Magic: As the lighter sand drifts downward through varying shades of crystal-clear turquoise and deep blue water, it creates the distinct visual depth of a plunging waterfall from above.
