Good Morning Community
When we built a free pantry in our front yard, it was never just about providing a box of cereal or a can of soup. This work—and this mission—goes so much further beyond the food.
It’s about dignity. It’s about ensuring that every person in our community feels worthy without ever having to prove they are "needy enough" or jump through hoops just to get basic necessities.
It’s about creating an open, judgment-free space where neighbors can give from the heart and take what they need often doing both at the exact same time. A neighbor might drop off extra fresh produce from their garden in the morning and pick up a box of pasta in the evening. There is no line drawn between "giver" and "receiver" here. We are all in this together.
Right now, 39% of our state is struggling to make ends meet, living just one missing paycheck or one unexpected emergency away from having to make impossible choices. Hunger and financial hardship aren't distant issues they are happening right here in our neighborhoods, to our friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
Real, lasting impact cannot be achieved in isolation. It takes all of us. Neighbors, grassroots volunteers, local organizations, and community groups....linking arms.
Because this work isn't about charity. It’s not about giving something away or handing down a gesture from a pedestal.
It’s about SOLIDARITY.
It’s about standing together as equals, knowing that what our neighbors face today could easily be any one of us tomorrow. When we show up for each other with empathy instead of judgment, we show what is truly possible when a community takes care of its own.
Thank you to everyone who has stocked the shelves, left a kind note, or simply taken what they needed. You are proving every single day that community care works. 💙
