Since the organization began in 1990, more than 6,000 greyhounds/sighthounds have found their forever homes within our adoption radius.

Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is a 501(c)3 not for profit charitable organization that finds forever, loving homes for retired greyhound racing dogs, lurchers and other sighthounds. Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for retired greyhounds and other sighthounds. These dogs may be anywhere from under 1 year old to 8 or 9 years old when they come to our group, and come from different backgrounds. They then receive any needed veterinary care, including: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and treatment for any intestinal parasites. The dogs are then placed in foster homes so that they can learn “house rules” as many have never been in a home before, and may have never seen stairs, have had a dog bed of their own, or played with toys. These special foster families help to make the dogs’ transition to their forever home a success

Happy tails, Billie!

Billie has found her forever home with Brittney and we couldn’t be happier for this sweet girl as she begins her next chapter filled with love, comfort and all the snuggles!!

Got a few hours to help the hounds? 💚🐾

Our last shredding event of 2026 is Saturday, Oct. 17, and we need volunteers to help make it a success!

Donations from the shredding directly benefit KC REGAP and help provide care for our greyhounds. Volunteers help direct traffic, unload paper, collect donations and spread the word about our amazing greys!

Congratulations to Marlie for finding her furever home with long time REGAPper Rosalie & new big brother, Tanner.

Marlie has a HUGE backyard to explore & she’s working on getting Tanner to play. She can watch & chase wildlife, sunbathe & of course run zoomies! 💨

A little update on sweet Coby 💚🐾

This sweet boy just had his follow-up surgery for his broken leg, and we’re happy to say he’s taking another important step toward healing.

But his care comes with a big price tag.

Coby’s surgery is coming in at around $4,000, and he’ll still need follow-up care as he continues to recover. We expect those additional expenses to be another $500–$1,000.

That’s a lot for one little hound but that’s why we need you! If you’d like to help with Coby’s medical expenses, any donation would mean so much. 💚

ONE LAST DOGGY DAYS!

Tomorrow is our last Doggy Days of the year at Chicken N Pickle Overland Park! Come hang out with us from 6–8 PM for one more fun evening with our friends at Chicken N Pickle 💚

We’ll have adoptables Ted, Higgins, Coach and Despe there ready to meet you!

Meet Coby 💚🐾

A few days ago, we told you about a greyhound with a broken leg who needed our help. Today, we’re so happy to share that Coby is officially a KC REGAP boy!

His journey so far has included a ride to the vet, X-rays, getting his cast on (and of course, getting that cast signed), a very sweet smile and finally… some well-deserved rest at his foster home.

Coby has a long road ahead as he heals, but he is safe, loved and getting the care he needs.

And that’s because of you.

Thank you to the foster who opened their home, the volunteers and veterinary team caring for Coby and everyone who donated, shared our posts or supported REGAP in any way. You helped make it possible for us to say YES to Coby. 💚

We’ll keep you posted as this sweet boy continues to heal. For now, we think he’s earned some serious couch time. 🐾

The need never stops. Just when we think we’re getting a handle on one situation, another dog needs us.

We have 5 dogs coming to KC REGAP… and now we’ve been contacted about a dog with a broken leg who needs rescue.

We can’t look away. We won’t.

But we can’t do this alone. Our community is what makes these rescues possible.

There are three important ways you can help:

💚 Foster: open your home and give a dog a safe place to land.

💚 Donate: help provide the veterinary care and support these dogs need.

💚 Volunteer: if fostering or donating isn’t possible, you can still make a difference by giving your time to walk and spend time with dogs staying at the kennel while they receive medical care and wait for a foster home.

Every foster, donation and hour volunteered helps us give these dogs the care and second chance they deserve.

Rescue never rests, but neither do we. 🐾

Kansas City, you brought it – the spirit & love for the hounds! 💚🐾🙌

The 2025 record?
BROKEN with ‼️119‼️ sighthounds in attendance!!! (83 in 2025)

Worldwide, more countries, regions, sighthounds & walks were registered than ever before.

Numbers are still being calculated, and we can’t wait to see where the Kansas City walk falls. But until that time comes, here’s a video & a few pics from yesterday’s pawsome day!!!
