We hope everyone is getting excited that our next concert is just a few weeks away! Join us on February 22nd at 6:00PM for Bold Bass Brilliance and Brahms' Lyrical 3rd Symphony. The concert will be held at Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St, Overland Park, KS 66204. The Overland Park Orchestra is incredibly excited to celebrate our Youth Soloist Competition Winner - Andrew Bowles, an incredible young bassist, at the concert with a wonderful performance of the first movement of Koussevitzky's Double Bass Concerto.

Beethoven's Consecration of the House Overture kicks off a dazzling evening of symphonic music. The overture blends stately Baroque‑inspired counterpoint with the composer’s trademark rhythmic vitality, creating a sense of ceremonial grandeur. Its brilliant brass writing and triumphant final fugue evoke the spirit of a new concert hall being dedicated with both reverence and exuberance. Be inspired by a heartfelt touching performance of Brahms' Symphony No. 3. This carefully crafted symphony epitomizes Brahms' middle-period mastery by distilling Romantic ideals into a compact, organically unified structure. The symphony's contrast of major and minor keys inflects the entire work with an undercurrent of tension and release. Its interplay of personal motto, cyclical development, and emotional breadth has secured its place as a cornerstone of the symphonic repertoire. It will be an unforgettable evening for all in attendance!

This is a free performance, that you won't want to miss. Please share this opportunity with your friends.

We hope to see you at our next concert this Sunday, November 2nd at 3:00PM. Join us for Sibelius' Ethereal Third Symphony and another incredible performance of Peter and the Wolf at Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park, KS, 66204!

Sibelius’ Symphony No. 3 stands at the crossroads of his earlier lush romantic decadence and a newfound neoclassical nimbleness. It is a masterpiece of restraint, beauty, and organic form. The Third Symphony offers a fresh, clear voice inspired by the Finnish landscape and classical tradition. Icy forests lit up with sunlight, wide open expanses, and crisp skies come alive in this symphony’s graceful lines and rhythmic vitality. It is Sibelius at his most refined—intimate, yet powerful. The incredible orchestral fairytale - Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, features once again, and we're excited to have guest narrator - Matt Stewart, an award-winning anchor/reporter from Fox 4 News, join us for the performance. Peter and the Wolf is a dazzling symphonic fairy tale. Conceived as both musical entertainment and an introduction to the instruments of the orchestra, it remains as one of Prokofiev’s most enduring works. Join Peter and his friends on an adventure as he finds his bravery and courage in a comical orchestral exposition. It will be an unforgettable afternoon for all in attendance!

This is a free performance, that you won't want to miss. Please share this opportunity with your friends.

We hope everyone is getting excited for our next concert! Join us for Haunting Harmonies with the Overland Park Orchestra, the perfect way to kick off your Halloween festivities with a dazzling concert of spine-tingling orchestral favorites. We're thrilled to present the concert on October 26th at 3:00PM at Blue Valley Northwest High School, 13260 Switzer Rd, Overland Park, KS 66213.

Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette portrays the tongue in cheek procession of a slain puppet who was defeated by another string-operated adversary. You'll hear every joint of the wooden townspeople clattering together as they march through the town square mourning their inanimate friend. They may even stop a few times along the way to have a few beverages and reminisce about the good times they had together. Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre is the perfect evocation of the undead being summoned on Halloween night to dance the evening away. The grim reaper calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him while he plays his fiddle, represented by the solo violin. His skeletons dance for him until the rooster crows at dawn, when they must return to their graves until the next year. The incredible orchestral fairytale - Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, also features on the concert, and we're excited to have guest narrator - Dan Weinbaum, an award-winning radio host from KMBZ Radio, join us. The story and the orchestra fuse together into an immersive experience of Peter's adventure with his animal friends and his tribulations against the dastardly Wolf. We're also excited to be joined by musicians from Blue Valley Northwest's orchestra, who will feature alongside the Overland Park Orchestra during the concert.

This is a perfect time to try out your Halloween costumes a little early, and there will definitely be some treats to be had for all in attendance. We hope to see you there and can't wait to bring music to the community once again. This is a free performance, that you won't want to miss! Please share this opportunity with your friends.

Our first concert of the season is just a few weeks away! We hope you will join us for Lights, Waltz, Action!, an unforgettable evening of musical fireworks that brings together the magic of orchestral pops favorites and the iconic sounds of Hollywood film scores on September 19th at 7:00PM at Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St, Overland Park, KS 66204.

Music from The Wizard of Oz is instantly recognizable and helped create one of the most magical worlds we've ever seen. Johann Strauss' waltzes have captivated audiences for over 150 years with the power to transport any audience through a carefree stroll along the streets of Vienna. Dvorak's Carnival Overture and Chabrier's Joyeuse marche are orchestral firecrackers that evoke the spirit of an exuberant Bohemian carnival and a merry parade through the streets of Paris. John Williams' score from Jurassic Park is an epic journey through the awe and danger of the prehistoric age. The epic music from How to Train Your Dragon is a 21st century marvel, which perfectly mirrors the vast landscapes and soaring flight sequences of the film with a decadent orchestral expanse.

This family-friendly concert promises to be a delightful experience for audiences of all ages, featuring an engaging program that combines classic orchestral pieces with beloved movie soundtracks. It will be a splendid way to kick off an incredible season we have in store for the community! This is a free performance, that you won't want to miss.
