🌸 Naka-Kon 2027 Staff Applications Are NOW OPEN! 🌸

Naka-Kon is an annual three-day convention celebrating anime, manga, cosplay, music, fashion, gaming, and Japanese culture. But more than that, our mission is to create a vibrant community where fans can share their passions, learn about the culture & industries they love, and connect with fellow nakama.

To make this happen, we need you! We are an entirely volunteer-run non-profit organization. Applications to join the Naka-Kon 2027 volunteer staff team are officially open!

Join us at the Club Hidden on the Rooftop for Naka Underground, tonight! Season two of Naka Underground begins with our first outdoor event!

We’ll be joined tonight by Naka-Kon veterans DJ Chef Nguyen ( ) and DJ Adequate to kick things off. Grab your Nakama, dress for the weather, and get ready for a night of otaku music and good vibes as Messenger Coffee officially joins the Underground.

Things to know:
- We’ll have Naka volunteers on site to help you navigate the new venue and answer questions.
- There is an elevator available - please proceed directly from the ground floor to either the stairs, or the elevator. The bakery will not be available during the event. There will be limited indoor seating available.

Limited refreshments will be available - please bring cash if possible.

DJ Adequate has over a decade of experience delivering otaku tunes with an Earth-shattering kaboom across the region. A Naka-Kon veteran, he returns from his training arc armed with new sonic weaponry to deliver the vibes throughout the night.

Naka Underground is Naka-Kon’s off-season music event series, taking place at venues all over the KC metro area. It’s the perfect chance to hang out, try a new dancing cosplay, or just to enjoy the otaku tunes with your Nakama.

Naka Underground returns May 16 featuring new DJs, a new venue, and a whole new vibe. Take to the rooftops of Messenger’s historic Grand Boulevard location and enjoy the otaku friendly sounds of our guest DJs while you support your favorite anime and Japanese culture event in the Metro.

We’re welcoming two veteran Naka-affiliated DJs for the season debut!
DJ Adequate returns from his training arc with sonic techniques honed over a decade of experience entertaining at conventions all over the region.
He’s joined by award winning KC club DJ, DJ Chef Nguyen, bringing his infectious energy and one of a kind vibe to Underground for the first time!

Naka Underground is Naka-Kon’s off-season music event series, taking place at venues all over the KC metro area. Hosted by DJ Amamiya, it’s the perfect chance to hang out, try a new dancing cosplay, or just to enjoy the otaku tunes with your Nakama.

Maki Otsuki is an artist who has been part of the ONE PIECE franchise from the beginning. She debuted with ""memories"", the ED theme song for the TV anime ""ONE PIECE"". The second ending song ""RUN !RUN!RUN!"" followed and was also a smash hit. As the first ED-singer for ""ONE PIECE,"" Maki Otsuki has participated in various live events at ONE PIECE related events.

DJ Sameshima is part of the group called BAN BAN BAN, who were guests at Naka-Kon 2025. This year, he’s joined us as a solo Anison DJ and provided a chill start to the convention on Friday night with city pop. City pop is a genre of Japanese pop music that emerged in the mid-1970s and peaked in the 1980s, reflecting the optimism and economic prosperity of Japan's bubble era. He followed it up with an energetic set of Anison Disco on Saturday. Anison Disco is a fun, interactive event open to all ages and fandoms, where attendees can enjoy dancing (otagei) to their favorite anime songs (anison).
