Tonight, it’s time to return to the Nightclub Hidden on the Roof for the next episode of Naka Underground, our off-season dance party event taking place all over the KC metro area.

Doors open at 8pm. Upon arrival, please head either to the stairs, or to the elevator to reach the rooftop.
Cover is $10, or $5 if you show your Naka 2026 badge.
Show is 18+, ID checks are enforced.

Limited beverages will be available, as well as a water station. Stay hydrated so you can party all night.

Nakama, please welcome veteran Kansas City DJ, proper grammar to Naka Underground!

Since 2012, "proper grammar" has been on a mission to bring quality dance music to the forefront of Kansas City's Electronic Dance Music scene. She dares to touch on just about any genre, mixing them seamlessly to teach her listeners what DJ'ing should really be about! Having worked with most of KC's local EDM production companies, this veteran DJ aims to keep the masses listening to "proper" music through her mixes while blending in nostalgic elements that connect people of all kinds!

Naka Underground season 2 continues with another rooftop party at the historic 1624 Grand Blvd location. Entering the Underground this month are two longtime members of the Naka community, both ready to demonstrate their own musical styles. Take in the unmatched vibes and sights while you jam to otaku tunes delivered by our special guest DJs for this month: veteran Kansas City DJ proper grammar, as well as Club Courtyard alumni DJ Ozy.

Naka-Kon is an annual three-day convention celebrating anime, manga, cosplay, music, fashion, gaming, and Japanese culture. But more than that, our mission is to create a vibrant community where fans can share their passions, learn about the culture & industries they love, and connect with fellow nakama.

To make this happen, we need you! We are an entirely volunteer-run non-profit organization. Applications to join the Naka-Kon 2027 volunteer staff team are officially open!

Join us at the Club Hidden on the Rooftop for Naka Underground, tonight! Season two of Naka Underground begins with our first outdoor event!

We’ll be joined tonight by Naka-Kon veterans DJ Chef Nguyen ( ) and DJ Adequate to kick things off. Grab your Nakama, dress for the weather, and get ready for a night of otaku music and good vibes as Messenger Coffee officially joins the Underground.

Things to know:
- We’ll have Naka volunteers on site to help you navigate the new venue and answer questions.
- There is an elevator available - please proceed directly from the ground floor to either the stairs, or the elevator. The bakery will not be available during the event. There will be limited indoor seating available.

Limited refreshments will be available - please bring cash if possible.

Naka Underground returns May 16 featuring new DJs, a new venue, and a whole new vibe. Take to the rooftops of Messenger’s historic Grand Boulevard location and enjoy the otaku friendly sounds of our guest DJs while you support your favorite anime and Japanese culture event in the Metro.

We’re welcoming two veteran Naka-affiliated DJs for the season debut!
DJ Adequate returns from his training arc with sonic techniques honed over a decade of experience entertaining at conventions all over the region.
He’s joined by award winning KC club DJ, DJ Chef Nguyen, bringing his infectious energy and one of a kind vibe to Underground for the first time!
