Before stepping into a new academic year, we paused with purpose.

Convocation gave our AHU community a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come, reconnect with the mission that guides us and pray over the year ahead.

May our students, faculty and staff enter this new chapter with wisdom, compassion and a renewed sense of purpose.

Every student needs room to make mistakes, learn from them and try again. For future nurses, that learning needs to happen in a safe, realistic environment before they reach the bedside.

For AHU nursing graduate Matteo Testa, simulation became a key part of that preparation. His background in aviation taught him the value of rehearsing emergencies, making decisions under pressure and learning through practice.

That same preparation is now built into our new Simulation Center, giving future nurses more opportunities to practice realistic scenarios, build confidence and strengthen the skills they’ll rely on in patient care.

Students now have even more opportunities to practice for the moments that matter most in patient care.

AdventHealth University opened the doors to our new Simulation Center. Future healthcare professionals will work through realistic scenarios, strengthen their skills and build confidence before stepping into clinical practice.

With immersive technology and spaces designed for hands-on learning, students will practice with purpose and prepare to care for the whole person.

For Charlene “Charlie” Atherley, becoming a nurse took longer than expected, but the goal never changed. At AHU Denver, she found support from educators who cared about more than her academics and helped her keep moving forward.

She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and now she’s preparing to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, bringing that same whole-person approach into the way she cares for others.
