Congratulations to our alumni screening at Central Florida Film Festival this weekend!

Happy New Year, folx! We have good news and some not-so-good news.

First, the NOT-SO-GOOD news: Due to unforeseen circumstances at OMA, our January 2024 program has been canceled. This is absolutely not how we wanted to start a new year, especially this year, but there's more 2024 dates and news to come.

Second, the GOOD news: Even though it's not 'calendar official' until April, FilmSlam is turning TWENTY YEARS OLD in 2024! That's 20 years of screening the works of local, independent ! 🙌

Since opening our 2024 portal on Film Freeway on January 1st, submissions have nearly doubled ALREADY and we couldn't be more grateful. Thanks to YOU, we have no shortage of films to screen and we can't wait to share them with all of you!

THANK YOU to all the writers, directors, actors, and producers, who have submitted their work for screening consideration over the last 20 years, and were kind enough to join our past and present hosts on stage to share your stories and thoughts.

THANK YOU to all the crews behind of and in front of the camera, friends, families, companies, co-workers, elected officials, loyal audience members (longitme and new), and curious folx who just wandered in on a FilmSlam screening one Sunday afternoon.

We've said it a lot over the years; without our filmmakers, there is no FilmSlam -- and that's as true today as it was 20 years ago. 🎬🖤❤️

Our Story

FilmSlam is a 501c3 arts organization which has been supporting Florida’s independent film community since 2004. We are Central Florida's only consistent public screening event for Florida’s independent filmmakers, and continue to provide a popular local screening outlet as well as a collaborative and creative networking opportunity for independent and student filmmakers throughout the State of Florida!

Our history began in Downtown Orlando at the historic Rogers Kiene Building. We grew at Enzian Theater, and continue to grow at our new venue, the Orlando Museum of Art and through partnerships with Central Florida Film Festival and Film Florida!

FilmSlam has always been independently organized and run by local artists who donate their time and talents to ensure Florida's novice, student, and professional filmmakers, especially those in Central Florida, have a dedicated public place to screen their works.

We continue to be a safe space for filmmakers of all ages, disciplines, backgrounds, and abilities including filmmakers who happen to be female, artists of color, and artists of the LGBTQ+ community. Each screening begins at 2pm, runs for 60+ minutes, and is followed by a Q&A which broadcasts live on Facebook.
