Since 1966, Edgewood's mission is to to help children live purposeful and transformed lives.

History of Edgewood Children's Ranch

In 1966 Juvenile Court Judge D. Arthur Yergey saw a need for a residential facility for young boys who had exhibited negative social behavior due to family circumstances. This led Judge Yergey to John W. “Jack” Lynd, who subsequently opened Edgewood Boys Ranch in Orlando, FL. Through prayer and loving care, boys were given a safe environment in which to change

the direction their life was headed. In 1968, a generous donation of 110 acres was given by “Aunt” Minnie Rouse to be the permanent site for the Ranch. In following years, the Ranch added girls to its program and is now called the Edgewood Children’s Ranch. Through this residential program for boys and girls ages 6-17, the Ranch today is able to accommodate more than 70 students at a time. Yet the methods and goals are the same as in 1966-love and prayer, bringing about changed hearts and lives.

We are so proud of all our Ranchers for an amazing year filled with growth, hard work, perseverance, and so many special moments. Each student has taken important steps forward, and we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their achievements.

A special congratulations to Daniel for receiving the 2026 Rancher of the Year award! This honor reflects dedication, leadership, character, and the positive example he has set for others.

Congratulations to Daniel and to all our Ranchers. We are proud of you and excited for all God has ahead!

Tennis Fun

Shi Lah, Hannah, and Jayda had a great time out on the tennis court, sharing smiles, laughter, and a little friendly competition.

Moments like these give our Ranchers a chance to stay active, build confidence, strengthen friendships, and enjoy being kids. We love seeing joy grow through simple activities that encourage teamwork, movement, and fun.

Little teaching moments have a BIG Impact

Our Executive Director, Jeff Fitzgerald, took time to teach some of our boys how to hit a ball, sharing encouragement, patience, and a few skills from his own experience playing college baseball.

Moments like this may seem small, but they can leave a lasting mark. A few minutes of guidance can build confidence, create connection, and remind our Ranchers that they are seen, supported, and worth investing in.

We are grateful for leaders who take time to pour into the lives of our children.

We were blessed to welcome the youth choir from BUMC to Edgewood Children’s Ranch for chapel service.

Their beautiful voices, joyful hearts, and willingness to share their gifts made the service a meaningful time of worship and encouragement for our Ranchers. Moments like these remind our children that they are loved, supported, and surrounded by a caring community of faith.

This special evening will celebrate 60 years of helping at risk children and families in Central Florida find hope, healing, and a brighter future.

Funds raised through this event help Edgewood Children’s Ranch give children and families the second chance they deserve.

Over the past month, our children at Edgewood Ranch have been learning how to play soccer, and it has been such a joy to watch.

From practicing new skills to cheering each other on, they have shown teamwork, confidence, and a whole lot of heart. Most of all, they had fun.

We are so proud of their effort and grateful for every opportunity that helps them grow, play, and simply enjoy being kids.

Thank You Orange County Police Athletic League
Making Positive Impacts For Kids In Orange County.

We are incredibly thankful to the Orange County PAL team for setting up a basketball tournament for our kids at Edgewood Children’s Ranch.

This special event gave our Ranchers the opportunity to have fun, build confidence, enjoy healthy competition, and create meaningful memories together. We are grateful for partners like Orange County PAL who invest their time and care into making a positive difference in the lives of children in our community.
